I tried Luna Beads so you don’t have to

What are Luna Beads (or Jade Eggs)?

There’s been a lot of confusion surrounding Luna Beads and Jade Eggs since Gwyneth Paltrow started promoting their benefits on her website GOOP, earlier this year.

Being both a curious and a sexual soul I decided to give it a go and see if it would actually make a difference to my sex life.

I bought Luna Beads, as opposed to the Gwyneth approved Jade Egg, purely because that’s what the sex shop stocked.

Luna Beads and Jade Eggs are essentially the same thing, the only difference being size (the Luna Beads are smaller) and material.

The Jade is also supposed to add an extra ~spiritual~ element to your strengthening experience.

I think it’s about here that I will just say I am not a sex therapist, or a doctor, and this is just one regular gals review of some beads.

So, on that note let’s dive in.

You can either insert both or just one of the Luna Beads and because this was my first time I found two a little intimidating.

What is this inside of me?

There is a little string attached to the ball which, for the love of god, you should absolutely MAKE SURE stays hanging out (for obvious reasons).

I used a water based lube and the pink bead, as it was the lightest weight. Just like any other muscle in the body don’t get too ahead of yourself and go for the blue heavy ball straight away.

I was told by the helpful lady in the store to walk around the house for half an hour, maybe do some vacuuming or washing with it in and keep tightening my vagina to stop the ball from falling out.

I decided to go do the shopping.

Don’t do this.

The feeling of hot panic as I realised the little ball was about to fall out in the aisle of Woolworths and then having to bolt to the bathroom was enough to have me nearly swear off Luna Beads for good.

Oh Lord, please don’t fall out there are children around…

First time user, stay inside the house.

Like I said before, don’t get ahead of yourself. I was not strong enough to complete such a task that involved so much walking.

The one thing I didn’t do, which is what you should do if your planning on trying out Luna Beads or Jade Eggs, is look up specific exercises.

I found a great website Kegels, written by a physiotherapist which was a simple guide to using your Luna Beads along with Kegel exercises.

This I recommend.

They’re great, simple, and most importantly not intimidating exercises for you to try and get used to the Luna Beads.

When you start getting more advanced and stronger you can go up a weight size.

It’s actually a pretty cool feeling, and you do feel empowered in your sexuality and I am pleased to report it did improve my sex life.

So, would I recommend Luna Beads?

Yes. Absolutely.

Do I think they’re necessary?

No. Sex will always be great.
