Casey Burgess Talks Through her Lockdown Beauty Tips

Casey Burgess shares her self-isolation beauty routine

Influencer and former Hi 5 star Casey Burgess walks us through her health routine, on how we can all stay beautiful whilst in the Sydney lockdown.

First published in the first Sydney lockdown and updated now for the second.

With so much time being spent at home, watching way too much television, eating foods we probably shouldn’t be having, over indulging in things we never used to, it’s important to upkeep your health and manage a good self-care routine at home, to keep you healthy, fit and well heck, beautiful as well.

Because as fun as it may have been in the beginning to stay indoors at night, wearing no makeup, wearing your hair in the same plait for at least seven days now, and staying in a tracksuit (or perhaps your pjs) all day – you will feel loads better managing your self-care routine at home.

This means, wash your hair, style your hair, wear some makeup and for goodness sake get out of that tracksuit.

Casey chats to the BB team on how she has been up-keeping her fab look whilst being stuck in self-isolation.

“I start my day with an at home workout of either Pilates, a Hustle at Home boxing class, or HIIT workout with Hustle Boxing, or go for a walk outside. This helps to get the blood flowing and gets me motivated. If I don’t take the time to exercise in the morning, I find I myself frustrated and unable to concentrate properly.

After my workout, I then focus on cleansing, toning and moisturising the skin. Which is a mixed range of products from Dr Spiller Skincare, Natura Siberica and Natura Siberica.” She says.

“I use a cleanser and toner from Dr Spiller, and my absolute favourite product to use of their’s; the Vitamin A Tagescreme Day Cream. This cream is hydrating and beautiful use, with a lovely silky texture on the skin. If I remember I will also use the Dr Spiller eye cream, but I always forget to ear eye cream.”

“If I’m washing my hair, then I’ll use the Natura Siberica Hair Mask RRP $24.99 which is designed for dry hair, and something I do suffer from all the time. This hair mask smells amazing and I love the rich heavy texture of the cream.”

To help with skin and hair health from the inside, Casey also incorporates supplements into her daily routine, which are great for maintaining good gut health and promoting good skin health as well.

“I use a green powder called Green Boost by Formula Health RRP $32.95 which can be purchased from Fit Nutrition. It’s an easy green powder to mix in any smoothie or just with water, tastes great and works wonders when drunk in the morning before eating anything.”

How many of you have ditched the self-tanners whilst being stuck in self-isolation? Well, there’s no reason why you should stop now. Sure, it’s nice to give the skin a break.

But it’s also important to stay happy in your skin too. Especially if you have an uneven skin tone. Self-tanning is a great way to cover any skin imperfection and make you feel great too. Yes, even as you lay there in your pjs on the couch whilst reading this.

To prep the skin before tanning, Casey recommends using a good body scrub to smooth the skin and remove any dead skin cells. Her fave is the Oblepikha Siberica Honey Body Scrub RRP $15.99 which is a soft body scrub. She follows with the Oblepikha Siberika Body Butter RRP $18.99 as it’s rich in hydration properties and perfect for the day after tanning to keep skin soft and lock in tan.

With so many of us now spending more time doing FaceTime catch ups with friends and family, zoom parties for birthdays and for business meetings, it’s important to maintain a healthy self-care routine at home in self-isolation. Especially when those unexpected friend chats come through unplanned.

Casey’s recommendations for tanning up and keeping skin glowing whilst in lockdown. She changes between the Tan Tootie Tan RRP $24.95 which adds a natural glow to the skin and smells great, and the Model Co One Hour Foam RRP $15 for an instant colour change to the skin. And perfect for those last minute scheduled FaceTime and Zoom calls.
