Scarlett Johansson’s black widow role for the Avengers Film franchise, required an intense workout regime.
Celebrity fad workouts have taken the world by storm in recent years, from Zac and Nina Dobrev’s partner workout and now the new Black Widow workout.
Scarlett Johansson’s character in the Marvel industry, specifically in the Avengers film ‘Black Widow’, was a powerful and lethal female assassin, no wonder the exercise regime was top notch to play such a huge role.

Her celebrity trainer, Eric Johnson, worked Johansson, 34 to the core for 90 minutes a day for 6 weeks.
Prior to getting the role as Black Widow, Johansson 34 told The Hollywood reporter, “”I am stronger and more capable now than I was 10 years ago, which is so awesome to be able to say.”
Health and fitness for such a role within the Marvel realm is obvious when watching the films. Other cast members incluing Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans and Brie Larson have all undergone intense workouts for their roles.
The black widow workout, as much as it is tough, it is attainable for most with motivation.

The workouts lasted 6 weeks, 5 days a week and for 90 minutes per day. The main workouts consisted of 3-4 sets of 25 to 30 reps at once. To break it down the workouts are broken down as:
- 4 circuits of 5 exercises
- 2 circuits of 10 exercises
Each day in the week there are a combination of Cardio and weight workouts. Involving lower strength, upper strength and speed training.

Diet:
Scarlett’s food regime however included 12 hours of fasting and 12 hours of eating (so pre cautionary actions must be considered according to ones body type to try this).
The less strict version of intermittent fasting employed low/low/high carb three day cycles.
Low carb days included 75 grams of carbohydrates and the rest included protein, eggs and healthy fats.

Her main goal was not to loss weight or body-fat percentage for the role but to gain functionality.
Ultimately, her diet and exercise regime was based around the goal that she could perform stunts and wear her costumes comfortably.
