World water day is to remind us of those less fortunate than ourselves, and to promote clean and sustainable water consumption.
For Australians, clean water is a given. Water can help you stay slim, improve your digestion, skin, and even bones. Bondi Beauty has sourced various types of water for both before and after your workout, that have positive health benefits for your body, inside and out.
- Alkalized Water
Alkalized water (also known as ironized water) neutralizes the acid component in the body, removes toxins and environmental pollutants, enhances the immune system and is a power antioxidant. Alkalized water is essentially regular tap water that has been filtered and ironized to remove certain properties within the tap water.
An alkalized pump is usually fixed onto an already established water pipe in the kitchen and the supply of tap water is filtered through the pump where chlorine, sediment, odour, taste and any organic wastes are removed.
The water is then pumped through an ironizing chamber where an electronic charge separates the water into an acid and alkaline stream. The alkaline stream is what comes out of the tap ready to consume and the acid stream is diverted to another outlet where it can be used for washing hands and dishes.
If you are someone that suffers from an imbalance of acid in the body, alkalized water may be just the thing for you.
2. Coconut Water
In World War 2 coconut water was used in drips and given to sick soldiers when saline ran out because it’s super hydrating, high in minerals such as potassium, vitamin C, vitamin B and glucose.
Coconut water contains no cholesterol, fat or preservatives, promotes healthy heart and kidney function and has been known to lower high blood pressure.
Coconut water is gluten free, diary free and has a wide variety of amazing uses for the body including weight loss, clear skin, hangover remedy and great digestion.
Due to its low fat content and rich texture, coconut water can be consumed in excess without affecting your weight. Its rich and filling texture will decrease appetite and make you feel full.
Coconut water can be amazing for oil-prone skin types due to its light consistency and moisturising properties. It can be applied topically as an all-over body moisturizer or consumed to help reduce oil in the skin.
If you suffer from acid reflux or indigestion, try having coconut water each day as its high fiber content can aid digestion and reduce these symptoms.
3. Aloe-Vera Water
The Aloe-Vera plant has been used as an ancient remedy for cuts and wounds since the beginning of time. These days, it’s becoming a popular health drink due to its range of benefits from helping the body deal with stress to detoxing and empowering the immune system.
Aloe-Vera water contains high amounts of vitamins and minerals including vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, folic acid (which helps to body make new cells), B1, B2, B3 and B12, which only a small number of plants contain.
As well as this, Aloe-Vera water contains a high concentrate of amino acids and fatty acids, in fact it contains all 8 essential amino acids.
Amino acids are particularly crucial because they transport and store the body’s source of minerals and vitamins.
If you are someone who finds it hard to adjust to change or becomes stressed by the idea of change Aloe-Vera could make life a little easier for you. Aloe-Vera is an adaptogen which is something that boosts the body’s natural ability to adapt to external changes and resist illness. Aloe-water can increase your body’s resilience to illness, stress, anxiety by boosting your immune system.
