DIY Activated Charcoal In Your Beauty Routine

Activated Charcoal is known to work wonders for your insides, but it can also work magic in your beauty routine.

Here are 4 ways to add activated Charcoal to your beauty routine.

Activated Charcoal can work wonders for your hair and skin, acting as a deep cleanser and purifier. You can buy  ready-made charcoal products, however what’s not to love about a DIY beauty product?

Deep Cleansing Charcoal Body Scrub

Create a mixture of sugar, coconut oil, lavender oil (or a scented essential oil of your choosing) and 2 teaspoons of activated Charcoal for the perfect home-made deep cleansing Charcoal body scrub that will leave your skin feeling smooth and fresh. Or you can add 2 teaspoons of activated Charcoal powder to your favourite body scrub and use as directed.

Clarifying Charcoal Face Mask

Add a teaspoon of activated charcoal powder to warm water and stir until you have created a thick paste. Then add one teaspoon of honey or Aloe Vera gel and apply a thin layer mask to your face. Rinse off with warm water after 5 to 10 minutes. Your skin will be left feeling clean and rejuvenated.

Whitening Charcoal Tooth Paste

This is the easiest of the 4, as all you need is your regular tooth brush and pure Charcoal powder. Dip the tip of the bristles of your wet toothbrush in to the powder and then brush in a circular motion for 2 minutes. The Charcoal will act as a stain remover and leave you with fresh pearly whites – you’ll be sorry you didn’t try this sooner!

Detoxifying Charcoal Shampoo

Add a teaspoon of activated Charcoal powder to the regular amount of shampoo you use to wash your hair and wash and rinse as usual. The Charcoal will soak up any extra dirt or nasties in your hair that your normal shampoo won’t pick up, leaving your hair feeling cleaner than ever. If you have light hair, make sure to do an extra rinse to remove any possible discolouration from the Charcoal.

Amie Maclaine

Amie is a self-professed make up addict with a larger perfume collection than anyone in the southern hemisphere. There’s not a night of the week you won’t find her without a face mask on, and cup of peppermint tea in hand. With a passion for all things food and wellness, she’s the first to jump on a new heath trend. If she’s not rocking one of her well-loved rugby jumpers, you’ll find her in her active wear, Almond Dirty Chai in-tow, ready to take on the day.
