After the year we have had, a short cut on how to thrive this summer, lose weight, save money and save time sounds a bit too good to be true, but read on.
Sounds like a click bait headline for a cellulite cream-but this is a long way from that. Thrive is the healthiest and easiest way to eat healthy food and save a whole lot of time normally spent food shopping and cooking. This is legit.
Thrive is an Australian heat and eat home delivery service delivering a week’s supply of carefully tailored nutrient dense meals right to your door to help you lose weight and get healthy.
This is the first time in my life I have eaten pre-made food, heck I don’t even eat aeroplane food mid-flight. So for me to even try Thrive was a massive step outside my comfort zone, and I did not expect to like the meals at all.
Cooking 3 meals a day for 16 weeks during the Covid lockdown for four people has seen me hit burnout in the kitchen. It was a heck of a lot of planning, shopping, cooking and cleaning up. So it is quite a relief to have a big break from it. It is also clear that I am saving a lot of money, as these meals are so much cheaper than my weekly shopping bill.
Unlike Hello Fresh, there is absolutely no cooking or food prep here. You just put the meal in the microwave, press on, and off you go. Meals on offer are incredible and include Sticky Korean pork shoulder with kale and cauliflower Rice, Massaman Thai Beef with broccoli cauliflower rice and many more.
They have delicious plant protein powders for smoothies and milk shakes in some crazy flavours, including Mango Cheesecake, chocolate swirl and vanilla pancake batter, as well as some paleo slices for dessert.
The food is natural, most meals and the plant protein powders are gluten free and free from refined sugars.
The morning muesli is pretty good too. You select the meals you want each week online ( and they change regularly), and they are delivered a few days later. Everything is fresh – there are no frozen meals, so they last about a week.
I have selected to go keto, as I find it tough to maintain and cook keto meals at home when I make them myself, so this again makes it so much easier. But there are a lot of “regular” meals available as well, from lasagne to noodles and Asian meals with rice which my family usually choose. There are also plenty of vegan options. All of the meals we have tried have been excellent. Delicious, tasty and filling.
Thrive is owned by the Aussie guys who started Sumo Salad, so they understand healthy food as well as the importance of food that tastes delicious.
I eat Thrive for lunch and dinner 4-5 times a week, and have salads, or eat out inbetween – as I do find eating anything day after day gets too repetitive. I am going into week 7 on Thrive meals, and my life has become so much easier, withe more free time and less head space spent planning and shopping for the weekly meals ahead.
It has been the perfect find for me, going into summer when I want to lose a few kilos and get organised for the festive season. Each meal averages at around $12-$14 which includes weekly delivery to my front door. Brilliant.
