Dear Bondi Beauty,
Can you wear false lashes, or lash extensions in the ocean? I’d like to go to the beach and not worry about wearing too much makeup, like waterproof mascara. Can you recommend some brands / products that are good to wear and won’t come off in the water?
Michelle, Bankstown

Hi Michelle,

While false lash glue is technically waterproof due to the latex content a simple rub of the eye could make your lashes come off in the water. Not to mention when the lashes get wet it can change the shape and weight of them causing them to sag while on.

The best solution would to get lash extensions or a lash lift. Lash extensions are a semi-permanent way of getting those long lashes with minimal maintenance. While they only last six weeks if you are going to the beach or pool most days in the summer it is a worthwhile investment.

Lash lifts are another option, they last around eight weeks and require no maintenance. While they don’t add much volume to the lashes they do add length while looking natural which is perfect for summer. Both the lash extensions and the lash lifts require a lash technician, a highly trained lash expert.

If you’re not looking for such a long-lasting option investing in a high-quality waterproof mascara is the best option. When you find the perfect one you won’t have to worry about it coming off in the water or black marks running down your face making you look like someone out of a horror movie.

Ere Perez Avocado Waterproof Mascara is a godsend when it comes to the perfect waterproof mascara. Filled with avocado oil not only is it nourishing to your lashes it’s not budging until you take it off at home.

Dear Bondi Beauty,
Do face mists really work? January is always so hot and I always feel my skin dries out this time of year. I’ve heard a lot of people using face mists, but do they actually work, or will they dry my skin out even more? Can you recommend any hydrating face mists to use?
Stella, Manly

Hi Stella,

Face mists are a hit or miss depending on the ingredients of the product. Mists that are filled with alcohol that can be very drying to the skin and give you that tight feeling after it dries. While mists are not necessary due summer the skin does benefit from the cool spray which is not only refreshing but also hydrating.

When looking for a mist it is important to find one that is not just water as this can also lead to dry skin as the water gets evaporated from your skin.

If you’re one with dry skin a good option is the Youth of the People Adaptogen Soothe + Hydrate Activated Mist. This mist is filled with hyaluronic acid which helps the skin absorb moisture and well as shea butter which looks all the hydration in.

Another excellent mist would be the Biossance Squalane and Hyaluronic Toning Mist .(not available in Australia) This ultra-fine mist contains two types of hyaluronic acid which both hydrates and plumps the skin, giving you a fresh dewy look during the day.

Our Fave Beauty Product of the Week:

Enbacci Age Revitalising Eye Defence RRP $88

There are two things a woman should never go without in her skincare routine, Moisturiser and Eye Cream. The rest, like serums and oils are great. But useless, if you don’t have a good eye cream or face cream to keep skin protected day and night.

Eye creams are one of this products that often do get missed from skincare routines at home. Whether that be because you just can’t find one, her you you don’t think they work.

When it comes to not working, believe me, I have tried them all. And I get it, the challenge is real. It is super difficult to find one which delivers.

Enbacci however, have got it right.

Using revolutionary stem-cell technology from apples. Studies show that apple stem cells boosts production of human stem cells, protecting the cells from stress, and decreases wrinkles – which is why this eye cream is perfect for around the eyes.

Unscented, so perfect for all skin types, even the most sensitive, this eye cream help reduces fine lines and wrinkles around my eyes in matter of days. Which is more than what any other eye cream has done.

Most eye creams keep my eyes well hydrated, but they seldom help me remove wrinkles. My days have been happy with the use of this product, as I see a significant reduction of wrinkles with each passing day.
