Dear Bondi Beauty,
I feel frustrated I haven’t yet been able to find the right products to help me reduce fine lines and wrinkles on the face. Especially as there are just so many on the market, and I don’t know which ones work, and which ones don’t. Can you help me, and share some products you know that actually do work?
Stella, Croyden.

Hi Stella,

Those pesky fine lines and wrinkles can be really annoying. And we understand your frustration trying to find the right product which works to reduce them or at the very least mask them throughout the day under your foundation.

There are a few things to keep in mind when it comes to anti-ageing products. Though many of them successfully do reduce the lines and help fade them slightly for younger looking skin, it’s also important to understand they won’t get rid of them altogether.

Outside of using skincare products designed to plump skin and reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles, there are ways you can also internally combat the signs of ageing. Drinking a lot of water throughout the day and including collagen powders into your daily routine will also significantly reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles.

When your skin is well hydrated a lot of fine lines and wrinkles caused from dehydration will fade, and the inclusion of collagen into your diet means skin will remain hydrated as the collagen works to repair skin damage and add plumpness to overall texture for a more youthful look.

As for skincare, we recommend the following products which contain ingredients designed to help combat the signs of ageing on the outside.

For the Eyes:

Avene A Oxitive Eyes Smoothing Eye Contour Cream RRP $32.99 uses vitamin A and E to help combat fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, with a promising 90% reduction around the eye area. Using vitamins A & E it works through the night to boost cellular activity, detoxify and even out skin texture, preserving youthful skin thanks to a night renewing blend of active ingredients.

For a hydrating treatment under the eyes, try using the Peter Thomas Roth Potent-C Power Brightening Hydra-Gel Eye Patches $101. Rich in vitamin C, these eye patches provide a juicy boost of moisture to the eye area, and are perfect after a long day, especially if you have been sitting in heating all day. Using caffeine and THD ascorbate (vitamin C) the patches will visibly brighten and improve signs of ageing under the eyes.

For the Face:

Exfoliating is an important step to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, as it helps to remove dead skin cells which can cluster on the skin and increase the look of wrinkles on the face. Removing these will lighten the skin and help reduce the signs of ageing. The Biossance Squalene + Lactic Acid Resurfacing Night Serum RRP $95 is an overnight exfoliant, which works throughout the night whilst you’re sleeping to boost your skin’s cell turnover and restores a healthy-looking complexion and even skin tone by morning.

To use both day and night, we also recommend a products like the Dermaquest A2 Serum RRP $150 which uses glycolic acid and retinol to help refine and tone your skin, whilst noticeably diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It’s also a great replacement product for anyone who is sensitive to vitamin A.

If you are looking for a non-invasive skin filler – which doesn’t involve any injectables, the Skin Virtue Future Advanced Line Filler Rapid Wrinkle Filler RRP $80 which uses hyaluronic acid filling spheres, sodium hyaluronate and vitamin A & E has been formulated using patented biotechnological which provides an instant filling effect to wrinkles, particularly on the forehead and around the eyes.

As mentioned earlier, hydration really is the key to keeping skin looking plump and youthful. So, it’s important to use products which incorporate ingredients that help lock in moisture throughout the day.

We recommend using the Aesthetics RX Anti-Ageing Regeneration Formula Face Cream RRP $139 which uses high-tech and plant-based actives to help boost natural collagen. The regeneration formula combines retinol, peptides, ceramides, stem cells, antioxidants and hyaluronic acid and can be used both morning and night.

Throughout the day, the Savar Instant Boost Multi-Toner RRP $56, which is can be used as a face mist over makeup on days where your skin needs a little help to stay plump and hydrated, uses New Zealand marshmallow to sooth, hydrate, balance and help refine skin appearance, and organic white tea to help fight the signs of ageing, reduce inflammation and sooth irritation.

Our Fave Beauty Product of the Week:

BOA Smart Exfoliant RRP $59

BOA_naturalexfoliant

Known as the lint roller for skin, this revolutionary new exfoliant is gentle skin, completely natural, and yet incredibly effective in removing dead skin cells, for a glowing, soft complexion.

Founded by Masoomeh Wake, a biochemistry expert, who was inspired by her childhood memories of day-long Persian hammam cleansing rituals, Masoomeh wanted to recreate the sensation of freshly cleaned skin after a day at the hammam – a sensation that has stayed with her all her life. The brand oozes of natural minerals and vitamins to help you have beautiful healthy-looking skin.

Each product by BOA has been expertly crafted to re-create the concept of hammam, similar to that of a Turkish bath, and the exfoliant is a testament to that.

Unlike chemical or physical exfoliants which can create microscopic tears in your skin’s surface The BOA Smart Natural Exfoliant is a highly effective natural exfoliant designed to deeply clean and minimise pores, help reduce breakouts and congestion, smooth and even out skin tone and texture – all in one simple application.

To use, you simply push the bottom of the clay stick up and apply directly onto semi-moist skin. Once applied all over, use your fingers to gentle massage the clay on the skin surface, avoiding the contour and eye area. The appearance of balls will begin to form, indicating the product has been activated.

When these particles have stopped forming, you’re ready to wash off.

Naturally derived, Vegan & Cruelty-free. 45g (each BOA stick should last 5-7 months, based on average usage of 2-3 times per week)
