It’s time to switch your mascara over to waterproof for a sweat proof summer makeup look.
We answer two beauty questions on the best mascaras to wear in summer which are waterproof and how to heal scars in time for beach season.

Dear Bondi Beauty,
What is the best mascara for summer that can be worn when swimming and won’t run? I’m looking for a product which is summer proof and can deal with sweaty weather and won’t run when I go swimming.
Water proof mascara is so important in summer, as you want something which is both light to wear in the heat, but also moisture proof, whereby it won’t run when you sweat in the hot weather, or when you go swimming.
We like the Erez Perez Avocado Volumising Waterproof Mascara RRP $34 which is a hard-working product designed to nourish and protect lashes, whilst preventing any colour run. This is an oil-based mascara though, so if you have lash extensions don’t use it. Oil-based products tend to melt the adhesive of the lashes, making them fall out faster than normal.
However, if you do still want to create a little definition around your eye, try wearing mascara only on the bottom lashes, that way you’ll protect your lash extensions and they will last longer. But less is best and wearing the wrong makeup can lead to lash fallout, extension damage and dramatically decrease the length of time your lash extensions look full and fabulous.
Dear Bondi Beauty,
Are there any products available, which will help me heal scars faster on the body and the face, before summer?
If you have very light scars on the body and face, you can try using a self-tanner to hide them. Instant tanners are a great way of hiding scars on the body super fast, when you have important occasions and events to attend to.
However, they don’t help with the healing process of the scar.
So, although self-tanners are a perfect solution to hide discolouration of skin tones from scars, it might be best to use silicone-based skincare products on the scars now to help heal the scarring faster, so you can feel more confident this summer.
There are a few brands you can use which are all silicone-based, and completely safe to use. Silicone technology has been used in hospitals and by plastic surgeons for over thirty years and is still considered the gold standard in wound healing today.
Try the Silicone Gel Scar Sheet – Belly Bands RRP $59 which are scar sheets used to keep the scar naturally moisturised during the healing process, an essential step to help prevent Keloid and hypertrophic scars.
Another successful product is the SCARmed Silicone Gel for Scar Reduction RRP $19.99. This is a gel you can apply to anywhere on the body and works with any other products, such as creams and self-tanners as it’s fast drying and light to wear.
My Favourite Beauty Product of the Week:
Thank GOD! Finally a dedicated skincare kit for clogged pores. It feels like forever since I have found a brand which works with clogged pores to cleanse and nourish without stripping and making the issue worse.
The moment I heard about this fabulous beauty kit by Carbon Theory, I was seriously excited. Not only as the products are specifically designed for certain needs. They also do kits for Breakouts & Acne and Daily Clean Skin.
Carbon Theory has been slowly establishing themselves as a go to brand for young skin, as they target specific key concerns in skincare, which is not always accessible for younger skin types.
In this kit you’ll find a range of products which work to not cleanse pores, clean them out and then protect and prevent any breakouts from occurring after the cleanse.
The range are all cruelty-free and vegan and made in the UK. Ingredients are a mix of charcoal, Tea Tree Oil, antioxidants and vitamin E which all work together to give you the best skin ever.
I noticed instant results after using these products on my skin and in 24-hours, my pores were clean, I had very little blemishes and those which were there, were already healing. And fast.
