I Tried Fat Freezing For the First Time

trialling fat freezing for the first time

If you’re struggling to lose any stubborn weight and it just won’t go away – then fat freezing might just work for you.

Just don’t expect results to happen right away. It can take up to three months to see changes. And it goes without saying, you also need to ensure you are eating right as well as exercising, to reap the full benefits of fat freezing.

Fat freezing is not a new concept. In fact it has been around for many years. However, as technologies advance, so does the tech used for fat freezing. This includes, either devices which sit on the areas of your body you wish to remove fat from, or Cryotherapy treatment, which involves stepping naked into a freezing chamber. The chamber temperatures are usually around -100, and you will be locked in for 2-4 minutes.

Freezing temperatures for the body do have their benefits, but it’s not for everyone.

As you age, you will start to notice small changes in the body. From the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face, to pockets of fat which begin to form around certain areas like the stomach and thighs, which are a little harder to get rid of.

So, it makes sense, to seek out alternative ways to treat these areas to assist in removing them, and hopefully for good. Especially when it comes to removing any excess fat around the body.

Enter fat freezing.

Cryolipolysis, aka: fat freezing, and the medical treatment for destroying fat cells, is a breakthrough, non-invasive procedure which uses a controlled cooling technology to permanently kill fat cells, without surgery. It’s considered one of the most effective non-surgical way to permanently remove stubborn pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise.

To test out the concept of fat freezing and to see if it worked for me, I went to a beautiful clinic, around thirty to forty minutes north of Sydney called North Shore Aesthetics.

They use a revolutionary new fat freezing machine called Cooltech® Body Sculpt. Cooltech® treats localised pockets of fat in various areas of the body. The device used can adapt to any area of the body enabling your figure to be completely remodelled. The system cools fat cells to temperatures that causes fat cell “death”. This results in up to thirty percent of the fat removed in the treated area of each treatment. In the weeks that follow the treatment, dead fat cells are safely removed by your body’s natural immune system processes.

It’s recommended for people who are generally within, or just a little over, their appropriate weight, but have fat bulges which don’t respond to diet and exercise.

Most Cooltech® treatments take 70 minutes, however smaller treatment areas may be shorter. And you will probably only need to have two or three treatments. I only had one.

Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect when I went. I’d seen plenty of images and videos online, posted across social media, where influencers and beauty enthusiasts have a treatment. However, it really doesn’t compare to having the treatment.

The best way to describe it, is an intense vacuum sucking sensation pulling at the skin, as the device is attached to your ‘fat areas’ and it grabs at the skin to settle in for intense freezing. I was incredibly nauseated during the whole experience and thought I might throw up. I didn’t though. I was given some jelly beans to help with the nausea until the process started and the areas began to freeze.

Once my skin and body settled into the sensation, and the nausea went away, I eventually fell asleep and found myself sleeping throughout the whole treatment, which was around an hour and a half. And there were no unpleasant sensations when the machine was taken off my body.

Now the after effects: How did it feel and did it actually work?

You need to remember, there is a lot of intense freezing going on, throughout the areas which were treated. Which was the stomach and abs for me. These stayed numb for several days, which I thought was super strange and a little concerning.

A quick phone call to the clinic and I was re-assured this was completely normal, and you are supposed to be numb for at least three to four days (depending how your body responds).

I was also told to expect a little bloating for a few days as well. Though both of these side effects were a little annoying and uncomfortable, after fours days, they began to subside and everything started to feel normal.

The only question remaining was, would it actually work?

Truth be told, I did see some results from the fat freezing, around three months later, with a slight reduction of fat around the stomach area. However, what I didn’t know what that there was something else going on deep down inside, which would prevent me from receiving the full effects of the fat freezing process.

Turns out I was having some fairly intense hormonal imbalances, which was affecting the whole stomach area, which was treated by Cooltech®. Though nothing too serious came out of it, the results of the fat freezing meant, the Cryolipolysis process exacerbated the whole imbalance I was experiencing, causing me some havoc when it was that time of the month, and then some.

Of course, this should not turn you off trying fat freezing. If you have some stubborn fat you just can’t seem to get rid of, this might be the answer. As I did see some noticeable differences straight off once things began to settle, it was only afterwards when I sat down with my doctor, I learned it was probably not the best thing for my body.

My recommendation: perhaps go and have a chat with your doctor first before having the treatment done. Especially if you do have any pre-exisiting medical treatments, where the fat freezing process may trigger an auto-immune response, or anything else. If your doctor gives you the all clear, then you should be good to. I know plenty of people who have had fat freezing done which has resulted in some pretty awesome results.

Unfortunately, the whole process is just not for me and my body.
