Want to Know How Skin Experts Get Glowing Skin?

this is how you get glowing skin

These are the holy grail of skincare products that many skin experts including dermatologists use to get glowing skin.

Admit it, no matter how many beauty products you have, you always want more. But more isn’t always the answer to clear and glowing skin. Sometimes, all you need to create glowing skin is to focus on the basics of what’s needed to help you manage your every day concerns better. We find out from skin experts ways to get skin glowing.

As a beauty editor and columnist, it can be challenging to maintain a healthy beauty routine when I spend so much time trialling and writing about so many different and diverse products.

It has taken me some time to work out what my skin needs. And I have now concluded a daily vitamin C serum, vitamin B cream, hemp oil and a probiotic face cream for day and night are the most important products for my skin.

It’s the days when I make the switch to something new that my skin will either thank me for it – or go complete catatonic reacting to a new product I am using on my skin.

It’s important to learn what sort of ingredients you need, and to find that one signature skincare product you should be using daily, which will help keep your skin balanced, no mater what life throws at it. For me, that’s vitamin C and vitamin B. I use vitamin C to keep skin balanced and toned, and vitamin B to help keep the pores clear and keep the skin bacteria free to combat any blemishes and inflammation.

With oily skin, prone to blemishes, my skin is hyper-reactive when I change routine. Whether that’s from changing my skincare routine, lack of sleep, eating the wrong foods, or from stress. Learning what ingredients work for my skin has certainly helped me manage my skin better.

Thinking about how I manage my skin, and what I have learned to keep it clear and glowing had me wondering. How do skin experts like dermatologists keep their skin glowing? Do they too use signature products to help keep their skin clear and glowing? In short, yes they do. Like many celebrities, most have their signature products which help them manage their skin, no matter what life throws at them.

This can range from collagen infused products, using glycolic every day or cleansing skin every morning with products which don’t require the use of any water. Here’s what some dermatologists say about basic skincare needs to help get you started:

  • Always use the right cleanser for your face in the right weather: Dr. Ava Shamban, a dermatologist in Santa Monica says, for oily or acne-prone skin, a salicylic gel or benzoyl peroxide wash works well. For dry mature skin, use either a moisturising glycolic or milky cleanser. For skin with brown spots or melasma, use a brightening wash, such as an alpha hydroxy acid cleanser.
  • Don’t use too many products: NYC based dermatologists Dr. Julia Tzu says don’t layer multiple products at once. Meaning, you don’t need to use three different oils and 2 different serums on the skin. 1 of each is enough. Using too many products can be harsh on the skin, resulting in more breakouts and clogged pores. Keep it down to a cleanser, toner, serum and face cream. You can add in a face oil if your skin is feeling very dry.
  • Moisturise both day and night: Dr. Janet Prystowsky M.D., an NYC-based dermatologist says moisturising day and night is a no brainer. The only way to provide the right barrier for your skin, to protect against the elements and from makeup, as well as provide hydration and keep skin well balanced, is by moisturising day and night. She also recommendS you use a day moisturiser with an SPF in, and a night cream with antioxidants to help repair the skin whilst you sleep (at night).
  • Try not to touch your face: Dr. Julia Tzu from NYC also says resist the temptation to touch your face when it’s not necessary. And definitely avoid touching any breakouts. This can cause inflammation to the skin, irritate the skin and spread bacteria which will cause further breakouts.
  • Hydrate inside and out: Dr. Mona Gohara, a dermatologist in Connecticut says using a good hydrating moisturiser on the face is important, but so is hydrating on the inside. A lack of water means less radiance and potentially saggier skin. We should all be drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day.
  • Exfoliate at least 3 times a week: Dr. Debbie Palmer, a New York dermatologist says sensitive skin types, this goes for you as well. There are plenty of products available to help exfoliate dead skin cells if your skin irritates easily. By exfoliating at least 3 times a week, skin is left glowing, as removing dead skin cells from the surface will fix any dullness in tone, as well as help prevent breakouts.
