5 exercise mishaps & how to avoid them

There are fitness mishaps that can happen to you, but here’s how to avoid them:

The amazing Candice Swanepoel wearing VSX workout clothes for women is the only one who can get away with light pink pants and a low cut top for a workout without mishaps.

Broken bra strap
Berlei don’t pay sports stars to bounce around on TV in the near noddy for our amusement. Bras matter and a busted one could prematurely end your workout. During exercise there is far more movement up top and this puts your bra under more pressure. Even smaller breasted women expand their rib cage and chest during a hard cardio session or yoga pose.
Solution – wear a good sports bra or top – and for the more endowed, both.

Sweat in all the wrong places
Different women sweat to differing degrees and in different places on their body. Sweating during a work out is good. It can mean you are working hard and your body is efficiently cooing itself (in heat stroke the body is no longer capable of sweating). It is also suggested that fitter people sweat more. This does not mean that you want to be in the middle of a class looking like you wet yourself. Some fabrics and colours just do not lend themselves to workout gear – worst offender is light grey, cotton leggings.

Solution – wear pants designed for exercise and in a darker colour if you tend towards groin sweat.
Baggy tops
Some women wear a fitted or crop top to workout, but for the average gal who likes to keep her muffin top or winter roll under wraps, a baggy tshirt is often the chosen fitness apparel. After all, things may bounce and jiggle and you can’t always suck your tummy in when you are attempting that challenging new move or pushing out those last few reps. But remember, if the session has any inverted movements, be it downward dog, burpees or TRX Vups, the top you wore to camouflage may end up around your ears showing far more than you intended. Your focus will then be on correcting your clothing instead of getting the best out of your workout.

Solution – wear a fitted top underneath.

Streaky eyes
A full face of makeup may weather a body balance or gentle yoga class. But if you intend to sweat it out in pump, F45 or any other high intensity class, you could end up looking like a drag queen who got caught in the rain, or a girl who hasn’t been to sleep for a week – and that’s not thehealthy glow you are looking for.
Solution – avoid wearing heavy eye make up on a workout day and pat rather than wipe your sweat away.
