Personalised beauty just went next level, with the new personalised skincare range by Function of Beauty.

If you haven’t heard of Function of Beauty, you’re missing out. Launching in 2015, this innovative US beauty beauty/haircare brand re-established our connection to hair, by creating a bespoke hair care range, designed for your hair and no one else. My fave is the frizz ease formulation with the pear scent which leaves my hair silky soft, smooth and smells like a crisp autumn orchard.

Every influencer across the globe was jumping on board to trial out the new personalised haircare range, when it launched with with @zoesugg, a British lifestyle and beauty blogger/vlogger on YouTube. Zoë Elizabeth Sugg is a businesswoman and author and began posting videos to her YouTube channel in 2009, which went on to amass over 10 million subscribers. She is a huge advocate for the brand, providing plenty of plugs on her instagram page and on her vlogs. In 2021, there is no slowing down on the popularity of the brand.

The core concept of the brand when it launched – which hasn’t changed, is an online personalised questionnaire designed to help the brand understand your hair better, so they can establish what ingredients you need to help repair, nourish and protect your hair. The result is beautiful locks, whether you have straight or curly hair or something in between.

Designed by American friends, an engineer, a chemist and a navy vet, Josh, Zahin and Hien, the brand creates trillions of unique formulations for specific hair, skin, and body care needs.

What is the science behind it all?

They say, ‘with around eight billion of us on the planet, all with our own hair, sun, mood, style and preference, it made sense to create a personalised haircare brand which would throw our the old approaches to managing beauty, to help people around the world, achieve their best hair, and now their best skin.’

Since the launch of the personalised haircare range, I have been obsessed with the range. Always ordering new haircare products when new scents were available. My favourite being pear. What sealed the deal for me with this beauty brand, was that I could alter what I needed from season to season. In summer, I need more hydrating and fizz controlling ingredients, whereas in winter my hair needs nourishing additives. Being able to control what is going in my haircare, making things a lot easier when caring for my hair.

What you’ll receive in your new personalised Function of Beauty skincare kit.

As soon as the new skincare range was launched, I jumped online, took the questionnaire and within a week, my products were delivered to my front door. Depending where you live, it may take a little longer to deliver to you.

The process is simple and similar to the questionnaire for the haircare products and can be easily accessed through the homepage for Function of Beauty. You have to be a registered user to answer the questions, so there is no commitment, unless you wish to purchase the personalised beauty products personally designed for you.

And the products are designed for any skin age and type, with specialised ingredients to help support anti-ageing, anti-pollution, awaken dull skin, brighten flat skin and sooth irritated skin. To help even out skin tone, hydrate and minimise the look of pores, reduce redness, breakouts and shine, and smooth and tighten skin. You couldn’t ask for a more bespoke skincare brand.

Concerns I have with my skin are hydration and oil control, with intermittent breakouts. My skin is considered to be a combination skin type which light sensitivity around the cheekbone area. My bespoke skincare products from Function of Beauty included a micellar gel cleanser, a serum and a cream moisturiser.

Function of Beauty also provide you with a very personalised care regime for your skin, which features all the products you have received, what’s in them, how to use them and what they can do to help you with your skincare concerns.

I’ve been using the products for a month and I have seen some noticeable differences. Skin hydration is better, it’s been less congested. And on the days when I do wear makeup, the micellar gel cleanser really helps to remove all the dirt and grime trapped in the pores. My skin feels fresh renewed after using.
