Safe At-Home Keratin Treatments For Frizz-Free Hair

safe at-home keratin treatment for hair

Yes, it’s possible to achieve smooth, frizz-free hair with an at-home keratin treatment that’s safe to use.

Going to the hair salon every 3 to 6 months for a keratin treatment may cut your hair styling time in half, but what about the 4-6 hours required for every treatment needed? And don’t forget the money it costs.

One salon keratin treatment can cost $300 or more, and take a minimum time of two hours in the salon – depending on the length and thickness of your hair.

At-home keratin treatments mean you can still achieve the same smoothing properties as a salon treatment – without the excess time spent at the salon, the significant amount of money spent, and minus the harsh chemicals often found in some salon keratin services

The plus side of having a keratin treatment, which is suitable for all types of hair, whether super curly, frizzy or straight is that hair is smoother and a lot easier to manage, style and with less fly away hairs.

For example, when you use a GHD platinum hair styler or the a Dyson Air Wrap, hair styles easier as the keratin treatment bonds the follicles of the hair, preventing them from splitting and separating when heat styling.

How is at-home keratin treatments different from salon treatments?

An at-home treatment won’t last as long as a salon one. However, you can still get the job done easy enough with brands like Troya Beauty, who have specially formulated an at-home keratin treatment, designed for easy and safe use.

The BONDED Keratin Mending Treatment by Troya is a salon-quality keratin treatment, minus the costs and the time.

The bundle, sold via features a deep cleansing shampoo and the treatment itself, both having more than enough contents to last 2+ uses – or 6 months.

So rather than leaving the salon after hours of application, unsure of how long the treatment will actually last, the power is in your hands with the ability to top up as you wish.

BONDED only needs to be applied once every 3 months. However, you can sneak applications in between when hair is frizzy or needs a boost, as there are no harmful/damaging effects when you use the treatment shampoo and conditioner more than once in a week.

Just be sure to not over do it with the flat iron on the straightening step – full instructions on how to use it, are provided when you purchase Bonded.

  1. I have just used the bonded keratin treatment. Your instructions say not to wash the conditioner out but to then dry and straighten. My hair feels awful. I found a utube video and the woman washed it out. I am very confused???

    1. Hello. Thank you for your comment. That’s correct you are not supposed to wash out the conditioner, as this is the Keratin treatment that works to keep hair from frizzing. Much like when you get a treatment at a salon, they apply the cold-treatment of keratin to your hair and then leave in to dry and style hair so it bonds to the cuticle of the hair and keep it from frizzing. You can also leave your hair to dry naturally if your hair is curly and you don’t wish to use a heat styler. A little goes a long way. I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you. If you wish to contact the founder for more advice on this product, please contact us at and will be happy to put you in contact with them to find out what went wrong and why your hair was left feeling awful after use.

    1. Hi there, thank you for your message. This treatment can be washed out after a few days if needed, depending how often you need to wash your hair. It is recommended you only use this keratin treatment once a fortnight. So alternatively used between washes with your normal shampoo and conditioner.
