Vitamin B – Your Skin’s New Best Friend

vitamin B your new best friend in skincare

Vitamin B might be the secret to blemish free, glowing skin.

We’re all seeking better, brighter skin. And thanks to vitamin C most of us have that. But what if your skin is missing that little something extra to help it be even better?

vitamin B (also known as niacinamide) is that one ingredient we have all been missing. A dark horse when it comes to helping clear pigmentation, heal acne and fight blemishes. Brighten and tone skin. French women swear by it.

What is vitamin B?

The scientific name for Vitamin B is Nicotinamide, and it is an essential water-soluble vitamin, which is not synthesised in the body and therefore needs to be added into either food, skincare, or via tablet form in order to receive the benefits.

It’s great for sensitive skin and redness, and helps fight premature signs of ageing. It repairs damaged skin cells and can help treat acne and blemishes.

The benefits of vitamin B:

It’s incredibly restorative, as nicotinamide helps restore the cellular energy of the skin which has been damaged from environmental impacts.

Fighting off internal and external stressors that can ultimately lead to the deterioration or breakdown of our skin and premature signs of aging like discoloration and wrinkles.

Nicotinamide has been shown to work like an anti-inflammatory, so it may also help to reduce brown spots, red spots, preserve hydration, strengthen the skin barrier and boost natural healthy fats of the skin.

With all that said and done, there’s only one question left. Does vitamin B work like it promises too? Yes.

Two months ago, I introduced vitamin B infused serums and face creams into my daily skincare routine for PM only. I always introduce new products into my skincare routine at night, to allow time for my skin to respond and to ensure I have no reactions.

After a week of not seeing any major reactions, I started using vitamin B in my AM skincare routine also.

After two weeks, I saw a significant improvement in my skin health, which was:

  1. A reduction of pigmentation in my skin
  2. Though I still had breakouts from time to time, they healed a lot faster and were gone in a day or two.
  3. A major reduction in fine lines around the eyes
  4. Overall improvement in my skin tone
  5. Skin looked plumper and healthier all over.

Though similar to vitamin C, as B works to brighten skin, help fight congestion and reduce pigmentation, I found using a combination of the two in my AM and PM routine really took my skincare next level in helping me combat daily skin concerns.
