Could an Enzyme Facial Be as Effective as Botox?

Could Enzyme Facials Be as Effective as Botox?

Enzyme facial treatments just might be the answer to younger-looking skin without having Botox.

From promoting oxygen and blood flow throughout the skin, activating collagen, and tightening and firming for younger-looking skin. The enzyme facial claims to do everything.

The science behind the facial is simple. It works with your lymphatic system to help remove dead skin cells and toxins, help reduce acne and pigmentation, by balancing and restoring the skin. And it’s absolutely painless too.

As a beauty writer, I’m all for trying new things. However, natural beauty and veganism plays an integral part in my life and has for a while now. So, when a treatment is made available which promises to promote healthier skin and younger looking skin, without the use of injectables, I’m intrigued.

Of course anti-wrinkle injections may still have their place in your beauty routine, enzyme facials seem to be a worthy replacement in the event injectables are not your thing.

And, they have come a long way in their science and development too. It was only a decade ago most enzyme facials consisted of harsh chemical like ingredients reserved for A-listers who had the money to treat all their skin concerns. Though their skin may have looked ten years younger, after a treatment. The internal cell damage from the chemicals being used may have left some rather concerning after affects.

Consisting mostly of fruit enzymes and less potent chemical ingredients. Because let’s face it, you need to mix up a little bit of science with botanical to help you achieve younger looking skin. Enzyme facials are easy to have, leaving you with confidence no damage has been caused from the treatment. So no, your face doesn’t look like a beetroot after an enzyme facial.

They have been around for a while, so it’s nothing new. However, they’ve gained a lot of traction in the last few years as the ultimate face-lift without having had Botox or injectables. In truth, the only unpleasantries involved with an enzyme facial is how it feels after application as it begins to dry. But it’s hardly painful, just a little awkward, with I will explain down below.

Here’s what to expect when you have an enzyme facial treatment:

For my treatment, I went to the lovely modern French-styled boutique clinic Injxu Cosmetics at Five Dock.

Founded by Laurisa, aka: @injxu_cosmetics, who is motivated and driven by medical and aesthetic knowledge, her approach is warm and friendly, understanding the confidence that comes with feeling and looking good in your skin.

Her honesty and passion even has some clients visiting her clinic as far as Canberra. She gives you straightforward advice and doesn’t sugarcoat anything. Which is a real blessing in her industry.

The first step of an enzyme facial is a skin cleanse, to wash away makeup, clean pores, and remove any grime and excess oil. Essentially prepping the skin for the treatment.

Once your skin is nice and clean, the enzyme mask, which is super cold and runny, is then applied all over your face, neck and perhaps décolletage as well, depending on what areas you are having treated.

Then you settle in and relax for an hour, listening to some relaxing music and meditate whilst the mask begins to work its magic.

As it starts to set and dry, you will feel a slight pulling sensation against the skin, which is not painful, but a little uncomfortable as the mask begins to harden on the skin. Though your therapist will check in on you from time to time to make sure you are comfortable, it’s difficult to speak as your skin feels tight and restrictive to move any muscles of the face.

The harder the mask gets whilst setting and drying, the more difficult it is to move your eyes or open them. Meditation and making sure you are comfortable for the duration of the treatment is important, so you can just lay there in silence, not worrying about the now uncomfortable pulling sensation on the face as the mask begins to turn rock hard against the skin.

You will feel a slight pulsating begin to occur as this happens, this is a good sign so don’t freak out. It’s the mask working to increase the blood and oxygen flow throughout your skin cells, which in turn creates a pulsating sensation on the face.

Once the hour is up, a specially formulated cleansing solution is then brushed gently all over your face, which works to dissolve the mask within seconds. The best feeling ever, as you begin to feel sensation coming back at the release of the rock-hard facial being removed from your skin.

And no, there is no painful dissolving of the now dry enzyme mask from your face. The cleansing solution used softens the dried-out texture of the mask, so it just washes right off. Relief at last. You’ll be able to finally smile and open your eyes too.

The Result:

I saw instant results after the treatment. My skin was looking a little dull and way overdue for treatment before having the enzyme mask. So, it was glowing, looked softer, and was so supple I couldn’t believe the differences in just an hour.

I also had a few breakouts on my face. These were healed up and gone in 3 days, a result of the mask no doubt.

For a non-invasive skin treatment that did make my skin look younger and felt smooth, soft, and glowed, I would recommend the enzyme mask as a solid replacement for any Botox or injectable treatment.

The results last a while too. For at least 4 weeks after having the treatment, I noticed my skin stayed very youthful-looking, dewy, and softer, which was something new.
