Here’s how to slim down 5kgs with fake tan: Models and The Victoria Secrets Angels have been onto this instant slimming technique for years.
We use fake tan to give the impression we have been soaking up rays on some sun drenched beach for days, so why not use it to make us look toned and more defined in all the right places.
Contouring is a simple technique that shades in our natural definition making us look slimmer.
Follow our contouring guide to achieve the best results, we recommend Cocoa Brown by Marissa Carter (RRP $19.95) or Skinny Tan, Tan and Tone Kit (RRP $54.99)
Cleavage
The cleavage and the collarbones are a two in one job. The aim is to make the breasts look firm and separated and get the collarbones looking higher and more prominent then they are. Start by highlighting the top of the breasts and collarbone, then shading in two parenthesis shapes between the breasts and on the outsides with a bronzer, or for a more permanent contour, a self-tan. Then shade above and below the collarbone in horizontal lines.
Legs
Contouring legs requires either your highest pair of heels or a deep squat, and even a friend if you have one handy to ensure you aren’t missing any areas. Begin by highlighting the front centre of your legs. Then, don the heels, or bend your knees into a squat until the natural definition of your legs is visible. Shade the inside of your thighs, the definition on your outer quads, and the smaller definition down on the outer side and back of your calve muscles. Then, hold the squat and turn to the side and another line of definition will be visible from your bum, down the back of your leg towards your knee. Harper’s Bazaar describes this as the most important line to contour and ensures it will complete the entire look.
Arms
The arms work quite similar to the legs. Point your index finger to the ground and flex and all your natural definition lines will become visible. I recommend using a make-up brush, to lightly shade the definition caused by the tricep muscles. Then make a fist and bend your arm upwards in a classic flexing pose that shows your bicep muscles. Use the make-up brush to shade a half moon shape where the bicep muscle caves in. By shading the natural definition lines in your arms, when relaxed, your arms will look naturally toned and firm.
Butt
This technique is not often needed unless you are competing in a modelling competition or attending a pool party. Which is unfortunate as it is the most straightforward. Simply use your bronzer or tanner to contour below the butt cheeks and around the outside in soft curves. The butt will appear higher and tighter.
