A self confessed fitness junkie, here are insider tips on the right foundation to wear when working out in the heat.
When working out the right foundation is important
Wearing the right foundation during a fitness session can actually enhance your fitness experience, and help motivate you for your next one. The key is accepting it’s highly likely you need a different foundation when doing fitness to the one you wear every day, and it might take some trial and error to find the right one for you.

There are three critical factors when selecting a foundation to wear when you are working out;
The first is sun protection. The sun is the number one cause of ageing, so there is no way you should work-out outside (even in winter) without full UVB and UVA protection.
You need a foundation that wont run into your eyes. There is nothing worse than working up a sweat, then having the experience hindered by running, itchy foundation. Matte is best.
Texture and colour. It goes without saying that you want a foundation that is not to oily or shiny, and you need the right colour, remembering your skin colour changes throughout the year.
1) Invisible Zinc UV silk shield foundation
Invisible Zinc foundation looks amazing and protects your skin
These guys understand both sun protection, and foundation. This gem of a product is a matte stick foundation that glides on easily and is not too thick. It comes in a shiny, silver metal tube, is easily portable, has SPF 30+ and protects against UVA and UVB. There are three colour choices, and the finish is matte. Last summer in Australia, one Invisible Zinc product was sold every minute – and for good reason.
RRP$42.00
2) Ella Bache Great 30+ foundation
This foundation was created to wear at the beach, so is great when working up a sweat. It has a good consistency, so not too thin, but not too thick. It leaves a dewy – but not oily – finish. The bright yellow capsule has a mini pump head, and secure cap, so travels well. It smells a bit like a sunscreen, so you can get primed for the surf before the sea is in sight. RRP: $50

3) Shiseido Sun Protection Stick Foundation SPF 30+
Shiseidos stick foundation winds up and down and gives 30 plus sun protection
This stick foundation glides on, smells great and has a flat matte finish. There is no chance of this one sliding off or into eyes, as it sticks hard and fast but manages to lock in moisture, so your skin does not feel dehydrated a day later. SPF 30+ ensures it protects and provides good coverage. Smells fresh, and simple to use.
RRP $45
4) Elizabeth Arden Pure Finish Mineral Powder Foundation SPF 20
Elizabeth Ardens mineral powder foundation is light and wears beautifully through any workout
I speak to women who won’t wear anything liquid on their skin when working out, either because they have sensitive skin or they don’t like the feel. This mineral powder foundation is for them. The mineral blend is light, but provides coverage, and absorbs oil but doesn’t dry out skin. The packaging has a built-in grinder which makes it easy to release just the right amount and means you can pop it in your gym bag.
