Depending on the time of the day of the week or month, or even the conversation you just had with your boss – you may forget that inside you there is a beautiful inner self with powers you can utilise every day.
Even Jennifer Aniston knows she is there: “I feel inwardly beautiful…when I am with my girlfriends and we are having a ‘goddess circle’”, she says.
Here’s a few simply strategies that will help you to get back in touch with your ancient goddess. Use them wisely and enjoy.
1. Being grateful for your current situation.
This is one of the simplest ways that you can connect with your inner Goddess. It’s easy to get caught up with what other people are doing or in our own ‘mistakes’. Seeing the glass half empty rather than half full is a sure fire way to having a completely empty glass. When we can rise above the emotions that we may be feeling, we can often see the blessing that is held within every situation.
A great suggestion by Oprah is to write a gratitude journal every day for at least a week. Pick 5-10 things that you are grateful for that day. It can be as simple as running water or a great coffee. This will change your mind set about how you view your life and actually bring you closer to what it is that you really want.
2. Treat yourself to a pamper experience.
This is one of our favourites and the reason why the Spa Industry is worth millions. A relaxing way to access your inner Goddess is to celebrate and reward your beautiful womanly body just like Cleopatra. This is so personal and different for everyone so it is important that you choose an experience that is uplifting and pleasant for you.
If you can’t afford a trip to your favourite day spa, there are ways of creating that experience at home. Light your favourite oil or candle, play some music that connects you to a feeling of peace. Maybe paint your nails and soak in a gorgeous hot bath with essential oils. Take it nice and slow and remember to savour every moment. Never underestimate the power of a good soak to help you find your inner goddess.
3. Create and nurture a space just for you.
This may sound strange, but this simple ritual is so powerful. Creating a place in your home or office that signifies what you love and care about, is a beautiful way to connect you to that divine feminine goddess. A modern day version need not be religious at all.
Start by setting up a corner of a room (or a whole room if you have one) with gorgeous pictures, fresh flowers and anything that comforts you. Some suggestions might be beautiful art work, fresh fruit or even crystals and mediation books. If you can make time every day (even just 5mins) to spend in this place, you will notice changes. This ritual is usually associated with a strong sense of self-worth, calm, peace and a feeling of letting go. A wonderful way to end the day is to light a candle, look into the flame and imagine that any stress or confusion you might be feeling is being given to the flame, as if it is burning it away. Then you can finish off with 3 deep breaths and in your mind thank the flame for the gifts of your day. What a nice way to end your day and prepare for a new one.
