How To: Pamper Night On A Budget

How to have a pamper night on a budget

Make the most of your self-isolation with an at-home pamper night that won’t break the bank.

Self-care seems to be the buzz word at the moment, with bougie skincare and luxe retreats saturating all forms of social media.

While there is no denying it is important to treat yourself every now and again not everyone has the luxury of being able to afford an expensive seaweed wrap or deep tissue massage on a regular basis.

What’s more, with COVID-19 taking the world by storm, many people are finding themselves with much more time on their hands.

But it is easy to pamper yourself at home whilst on a budget.

Here are 4 ways to relax and pamper indulge yourself without breaking the bank.

1. Set The Mood

Lighting is everything. Dim the lights in your bedroom, bathroom or apartment and light some candles to create a little oasis away from the hustle and bustle of work or uni.

Tea light candles can be bought from The Reject Shop for next to nothing and will make the space feel warmer and cosier.

Candles are also a great tool for meditation as the flame provides a focus point, enabling you to remove all distractions and concentrate on the flickering light.

2. Run A Bath Or Shower

There is nothing like a steamy, hot bath to relax the muscles and quieten the mind. Add a Lush Bath Bomb like Ickle Baby Bot (RRP $4.50) to spice things up or even some bath salts. The steam created from the water will open up the pores enabling them to be primed and ready for step 3.  If you have dry milk powder at home, you can put 1/4 a cup into the bath to smooth your skin.

3. Face Mask

Indulge yourself with a relaxing face mask

Nothing says ‘Pamper Night’ like a face mask. While face masks can vary in price, the introduction of single use masks to the market has been a saving grace for budget beauty queens.

Choose a face mask that matches your skin type or performs a particular function and chuck on a good Netflix show.

For skin that really needs a deep cleanse, try this coconut charcoal mask.

Natural Charcoal (from Coconut Husk) helps to really clean out the impurities hiding deep in the pores.

Tip: Put this mask on after a nice hot shower to ensure that the pores are already open, allowing the mask to sink even deeper than it would normally.

The Willow Bark acts as a natural exfoliant and works to decongest pores leaving a clear, smooth and luminous complexion.

Or if your skin is in need of some rehydration then we recommend Loccitane’s Soothing Face Mask Pod (RRP $8.50). With its yoghurt-like texture, this mask is the secret weapon for dry and irritated skin.

The mask is enriched with freshly picked blackcurrants leaving your skin not only feeling silky smooth but also smelling like a fruit cocktail – yes please.

While the mask may be on the smaller side, it’s packed full of vitamins and minerals such as magnesium and calcium to rehydrate the skin and leave it feeling plump.

4. Meditate

When undergoing a ‘Pamper Night’ it can be easy to mistake self-care for purely relaxing and pampering the body and skin. However, it is important to remember to look after the mind as well. This is where meditation can come in.

The benefits of meditation have become increasingly better understood, with studies documenting its ability to reduce stress and anxiety, enhance mood and promote better self-awareness.

There are many different meditation apps and programs on the market, including Headspace, Calm and free videos on YouTube.
