My makeup routine is the favourite part of the day. Check out my tips on how to achieve the perfect no makeup, makeup look.
Sydney-based freelance makeup artists Michal Horry tells us how to achieve the no makeup, makeup look in under five minutes.
I love trying new brands and playing with new techniques. However, when it comes to my every day look I’m extremely minimal, as I simply can’t be bothered to wear a full face of makeup on a regular basis. This is where achieving the no makeup, makeup look will be your best friend.
We know what the morning rush is like of only having five minutes to get yourself ready. Therefore I feel like I’ve truly mastered a genuine five minute makeup routine for all the times I’ve texted “leaving now” while only starting my makeup.
My first essential step is skincare. In order for our makeup to sit flawlessly we have to take care of the skin underneath first. A good skincare routine is key however in the morning a hydrating moisturiser will be the perfect base.
My favourite everyday moisturiser at the moment is the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream. Created with Squalane and Imperata Cylindrica, these two powerful hydrators help to rejuvenate skin for a smoother, plumper, and healthier look and feel. It maintains a lightweight, fast-absorbing gel texture, making the product suitable for all skin types.
For every day foundation I love the It Cosmetics CC cream. CC cream, unlike foundation, lets your skin breathe, that’s why it’s great to wear day to day! This cream has anti-ageing benefits as well as SPF 50 UVA/UVB broad-spectrum protection, which is a huge plus!
To top off the quick and easy perfect base my favourite affordable concealer is the Maybelline Fit Me concealer to achieve a flawless natural coverage to cover those dark circles.
Now to add some colour and dimension back into the face. To keep the natural dewy look I always opt for cream products as they look the most natural and can be used as a multi use product, which makes our lives easier.
My holy grail cream products are the Nudestix cream blush sticks designed for the eyes, lips and cheek. Use your fingers to dot a tiny amount onto the apples of your cheeks, and blend away up into the temples until it’s sheer.
I also love to carry some excess onto the bridge of my nose as It mimics the look of a natural/sunburn/tan. Whatever left on my fingers and add some onto the lips and eyes for a simple monochromatic look.
To set our work I love to use a bronzer as a quick wash over the cheekbones as well as bringing it into the crease of the eyelids to achieve a bronze look with minimal effort. My go to bronzer has been the Fenty Beauty powder bronzer.
No look is complete with out some mascara and brows. I love to use a tinted brow gel for the days I have no time to fill in the gaps for an instant fuller and thicker brow. My favourite affordable brow gel is from McoBeauty, it volumises and tints the brows in seconds.
The Xtendlash Mascara by McoBeauty is another must have. This tubular mascara helps maximise length, curl and volume without any flaking or smudging as the formula creates water resistant ‘tubes’ around each lash for maximum length and hold.
The reason I always opt for tubular mascara instead of regular is because instead of coating your lashes with pigment, like regular mascaras, tubular mascaras wrap each lash in water-resistant, tube-like polymers which means say goodbye to panda eyes.
Mcobeauty is also available from Woolies, which is an even bigger bonus, as it’s easily available for anyone to purchase.
Last but not least, Lips. A staple in every girls bag is the Lanolin tinted rich lip moisturiser. This lip balm has the perfect amount of pigment to give you a super wearable tint, which properly shows up – but doesn’t take over, making them the first thing you’ll reach for every day.
With three different tinted shades to choose from this product perfectly ties in your everyday glam look.
