Tea is a great way to warm up in winter and has health benefits.

Herbal tea is a great way to stay hydrated in Winter and makes a great replacement for coffee too.

With the days becoming shorter and the weather cooler, it’s the best time to start a loving relationship with Tea.

And although you can enjoy tea any time of the year, there’s something really heart-warming about rugging up on a cold day with a good cup of herbal tea.

Full of refreshing herbs and spices, herbal teas are a great way to rehydrate, boost the immune system, de-stress and detox your body.

Bondi Beauty spoke with Sarita Merlo, naturopath and herbalist and creator of Byron Bay T Company on why tea is so important in cooler months.

“In winter, water is the strongest element in the body along with the Kidneys and Bladder. In order to strengthen your water energy and keep balance in your body, it’s important to keep warm. And what better way to do this, then with a good cup of tea.”

Here are Sarita’s top 4 teas she recommends for the cooler months of the year.

Immunity Tea:

This tea is the best for cold and flu season and can aid in helping the body fight infections, ease cold & flu symptoms, like sore throats and coughs. Clears the airways helping you to breath better, fights viral infections and boosts your vitamin C levels.

Ingredients: Echinacea, Elder Berry, Elder Flower, Eucalyptus, Lemon Myrtle, Rosehip, Ginger and Licorice,

Ginger Zing:

This is an all-round good tea that cleanses and uplifts the body. It provides general cleansing to the body by removing toxins from the blood, provides anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties to help strengthen the immune system, whilst boosting stimulation that helps with circulation and digestion.

Ingredients: Lemongrass and Ginger

Chai:

With its aromatic spices & flavours, Chai Tea is a great winter warmer as it stimulates body circulation, helping you to stay warm in the cooler weather. Research has also shown the benefits of drinking Chai are endless with some examples being, fighting off cancer and aiding in weight loss.

Ingredients: Black tea, Cinnamon, Licorice, Ginger, Cardamon, Aniseed Myrtle & roasted Wattleseed

Dandylicious

This tea is made from roasting the root of the dandelion. Dandelion has been known to assist in optimal kidney and liver function and may also reduce fluid retention. It has also been known to help with digestion and helps break down fats in the body.
