Morning After Makeup; How to Go From Hot Mess to Hotness.

How to wake up looking and feeling fresh the morning after the night before.

Imagine this. You’ve spent the night at your crush’s house. Maybe you went out to cocktails the night before, or things got a bit steamy and by the time you went to sleep you’d forgotten to take off your makeup from the night before. You’ve gone from a sexy smokey eye to a raccoon. Oh no!

Don’t worry girl, we’ve got you covered. Here’s how to GO from hot mess to hotness in 5 minutes. Your sleepover buddy won’t even know you’ve gotten up. What’s more, all of these products can easily fit into your purse or handbag, so you don’t need to bring a whole toiletries bag with you on a lucky night out.

Face Halo

Face Halo
The Face Halo Love is Love (RRP $35)

The FaceHalo makeup wipes are a great alternative to traditional makeup wipes, because you don’t need to carry around a bulky pack of plastic every time you go out. The soft, cotton pad simply uses water to remove makeup – no harmful chemicals or preservatives.

If you’ve woken up with last night’s mascara smudged halfway down your face, use the Face Halo to remove all of the remaining makeup and start fresh with a clean slate. If you’ve had one to many drinks the night before, a dash of cold, cleansing water will not only be leaving you looking clean but feeling clean too.

The Face Halo Love is Love limited edition pack, that is the perfect addition to your morning after makeup kit. 5% of the proceeds will be donated to the Trevor Project (a foundation that supports LGBTQ+ youth), so you can support other people’s love, while getting some of your own.

Hint: leave some of your mascara on your eyelashes. This will maintain the tint without having to deal with crusty eyelashes.

Instead of applying a cakey foundation, concealer can work wonders at hiding undereye bags, without looking like you have a full face of makeup on.

Opt for a creamy concealer that provides full coverage and doesn’t crack, such as the IT COSMETICS Bye Bye Under Eye Full Coverage Anti-Aging Waterproof Concealer (RRP $40). This concealer is waterproof and wont budge when you inevitably hop back into bed and rub your eyes, pretending like you’ve just woken up.

To best conceal imperfections, apply the concealer by drawing small upside down triangle shapes under the eye, and then buff out with your finger.

White Eyeliner

Applying a white or beige eyeliner to your low rim is the perfect cheat for looking wide awake and bright eyed. The Raww Cosmetics Babassu Oil Eye Pencil in Nutty Beige (RRP $19.99) will hide any red eyes, and will leave your bed buddy thinking they’ve won the lottery.

As a certified organic cosmetic you can also feel comfortable putting it on your eye in the morning and leaving it there all day (because this bad boy stays in place ALL DAY).

TIP: pop some of this on your inner corners too to double as an inner-corner highlight. It will brighten up your eyes even more, without adding any unnatural looking shimmer.

Blush (flushed)

Blush is a subtle, yet potentially unexpected essential to the morning after makeup guide. But think about it, nothing says sweet and natural like rosy cheeks.

The Nude by Nature Virgin Blush (RRP $19.95) contains no toxic ingredients, no bismuth (a metal commonly found in cosmetics) and no glitter. It looks and feels natural, working to lift and define the cheekbones, without looking like a clown has thrown up on your face.

This particular product is a universal shade, meaning it looks great on almost all skin colours, so you can’t go wrong. Just beware that the product comes in loose powder, so don’t apply it in the dark or it may spill all over bae’s bathroom.

Face Mist

Depending on how big your purse is, you may want to finish off the look with a setting spray. Not only are they a great way to reset and lock your makeup in place, but the refreshing mist may just be the pick-me-up you need to bounce back into bed – round two maybe?

The Raww Watermelon Fresh Setting Spray (RRP$19.99) is infused with watermelon, nori and kiwi fruit, so not only is it infused with superfood beauty, but it smells great too. While it won’t mask the smell of morning breath, it leaves your skin feeling hydrated and smelling fruity-fresh. The packaging is also small and compact, so it won’t take up lots of room in your purse.
