Sydney’s best day spa is now Crown Spa Sydney. With La Prairie as the official spa partner, offering five facial treatments, surrounded by marble, tranquility and calming Sydney views.

Crown have been raising the bar in Australia in terms of hotels, restaurants and spas in Australia since the Crown Spa Melbourne opened in May 1997.

The Crown brand is pure luxury, and is about enveloping every guest in a seamless luxurious resort-like experience, from the spa to the restaurants and bars with exemplary service every step of the way.

Striking interiors, cutting edge design, menus that delight and surprise are all part of the Crown journey.

I was one of the first to go to Crown Spa Melbourne in my capacity as a reviewer all those years ago, and it blew everyone’s preverbial socks off in Australia at that time. This Sydney property has the same feel and effect in 2021.

Every last detail from the staff and their demeanour to their uniforms, the treatments, and views and the luxe interiors, set new standards in Australia in so many ways and at a time when Australia and Australian hospitality needs it more than ever in the post covid world.

Crown Sydney is breathing new life into the hospitality sector, and also into Barangaroo, another Sydney precinct whose businesses suffered greatly in recent times.

I was stunned to walk into A’mare and Woodcut , both 300 seat restaurants to see both not only full but buzzing with excitement -and people on a Wednesday night. What must they be like on a Friday?

To me, the whole Crown Sydney experience feels more like Singapore than Sydney, with striking, global interiors, passionate staff, expansive international menus, and cocktails and wines that are amongst the best in the country.

But before I stepped into the restaurant, I stepped into the spa – and what a spa it is. It’s exactly what Sydney’s spa scene has been crying out for. At last we have a truly five star spa.

The futuristic design of Crown Spa Sydney was created by Blainey North.

There is a plush waiting room, with rich, soft carpet underfoot, and staff who are charmingly helpful. The entrance is where guests begin the journey into a place where you can truly relax. Everything feels seemless.

The treatment list is extensive, and each treatment includes the use of the glamorous spa facilities; a spa bath, wet sauna, infra red sauna and relaxation room.

This is the best place in Australia to be selfish and self-absorbed. It really is all about you. Colours are muted and include pinks, purples and cream. There are gold touches throughout which adds glamour.

There is also an outdoor area with bespoke native greenery and city views, and men and women have separate facilities.

Sydney Interiors Guru Blainey North has designed the fit out, and her design cleverly brings the outdoor space in, and provides a space to breath and reflect.

The treatment rooms are off a luxe hallway, and staff are quietly spoken, sensitive and kind. Not overly large, they are certainly sufficient and calming. The colour scheme within them is a soft, baby pink snd cream. My massage was out of this world.

The products used were from Sydney’s subtle energies. Natural oils with ayurvedic qualities were offered and I had the choice to either relax or energise.

I enjoyed the relaxation room with pink couches and curtains to ease into and out of the treatment space.

An unexpected touch is a beautiful jelly like green tea snack afterwards with a lovely calming tea, and a protein ball. No sugar or nasties here, the focus is health and self preservation.

There is also a spectacular 45 metre pool that spa guests can use, as well as a spacious gym with striking views of the city.

There are huge showers, the design of which is almost identical to that of Qantas showers in the business class lounge in Singapore. No wonder I felt as if I was overseas. Plenty of space and time unwind.

Dyson hair dryers are a pleasure to use, and there are plenty of mirrors.

This is a Sydney experience not to be missed. I can’t wait to go back.
