I Tested 10 Masks In 10 Days And These Were The Results

Girl wearing clay face mask.

10 masks in 10 days has proven to be one of the best things I could do for my skin. From clays to jellies, face masks to foot masks, I tried them all and here’s what I found out.

First off, when it comes to doing a mask I’m not thinking of how the mask is going to help my skin, I’m thinking hell yes, time to put my feet up, say goodbye to my to-do list and have some much needed me time.

In writing this story however, I realised I needed to assess whether the masks were actually doing anything for my skin or not.

By comparing 10 masks against each other, day after day, I figured out which type of masks I enjoy the most and more importantly which one’s my skin responds to best, these were the results.

Day 1 – The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Sheet Mask

The Body Shop Vitamin C Sheet Mask
Vitamin C helps repair damaged skin.

Type: Sheet mask

Time left on: 15 minutes

RRP: $7:00 for one sheet mask.

This product is the perfect hangover cure.

Using this Vitamin C infused sheet mask was effortless to say the least. I put the mask on for 15 minutes and was blissfully met with a fresh, citrus-y smell. The sensation of the mask on my face was cooling and didn’t cause any irritation to my skin at all.

After taking off the mask, I rubbed the leftover serum into my face using light circular motions for some extra pampering.

I then let the serum soak in for a few minutes my skin was left feeling awakened and ultimately healthier overall. I applied a light layer of moisturiser onto my face promptly and was super surprised when I was left with not only super soft skin but a radiant glow that lasted throughout the entire afternoon.

Another great aspect of this sheet mask is that it is biodegradable so it certainly gets an A+ from me for being environmentally ethical too.

Day 2 – Innisfree Skin Solution Hydrating Mask

Innisfree Skin Solution Hydrating Mask
Restorative properties that are great for your skin.

Type: Sheet mask

Time left on: 10 minutes

RRP: $2.90 for one sheet mask.

This product is best for skin types that are in dire need of a moisture surge.

Yet another sheet mask that didn’t disappoint. This sheet mask was particularly thin and light-weight on the skin. Although it didn’t carry any particular fragrance, it did feel both refreshing and cooling on my face.

I placed the mask on my face and let the cold serum soak into my skin. After 10 minutes had passed I peeled off the sheet mask and found that it was so moisturising, that my skin was super soft and supple.

The leftover serum from the mask was easily absorbed into my skin when patted down and left quite a natural, dewy glow on my face for a few hours at least.

This was the first time ever that I didn’t feel the need to use a moisturiser immediately after using a face-mask which is a big plus in my eyes.

Day 3 – Trilogy Mineral Radiance Mask

Triology Mineral Radiance Mask in flatlay on bed.
Face masks are good for the skin and soul.

Type: Clay mask

Time left on: 10 minutes

RRP: $35 for 60 ml

This product is the perfect addition to a girls night sleepover.

This mask had a clay texture with a non-drying formulation. This was super interesting to me as I have never come across a clay mask that doesn’t harden as it dries. The mask itself consists of kaolin clay New Zealand pohutukawa and rosehip oils which give off a floral-like scent.

After applying a generous layer all over my face I left it for about 10 minutes and then quickly rinsed it off with warm water and was left with revitalised skin that was super soft to touch. When I applied a light layer of moisturiser afterwards, my skin soaked it in immediately leaving my face feeling nourished and hydrated.

If aren’t already convinced about how wonderful this mask is, my boyfriend was so amazed by how healthy my skin looked that he asked if he could join me next time.

Day 4 – L’occitane Soothing Mask

L'Occitane Soothing Face Mask
Smells good enough to eat.

Type: Cream mask

Time left on: 5 minutes.

RRP: $55 for 75ml

This mask is best used when you are feeling run-down and tired.

The L’occitane mask was an interesting yoghurt-like texture and honestly the strong scent of freshly-picked blackcurrant brought me right back to those days at After School Care where all I would drink was Ribena.

When I applied the mask onto my face, it wasn’t as soothing as it claimed, in fact it actually did sting a little, however the results were totally worth it.

The mask contains ardeche blackcurrant, rich in magnesium and calcium, and shea butter which worked together to give my face the ultimate nutrient boost.

After washing it off after around 5 minutes, a freshly cleansed layer of skin was revealed. My entire face felt tight but still as soft as a baby’s butt.

This mask was significantly refreshing in comparison to the other masks I had trialled so far so I would recommend using this when you are feeling a little tired and are in dire need of a refreshing pick-me-up.

Day 5 – Nivea Urban Skin Goodnight Detox Mask

Nivea Urban Skin Goodnight Detox Mask in shoot with other Nivea products surrounding.
Say goodnight to bad skin with this night time detox mask.

Type: Cream mask

Time left on: 15 minutes

RRP: $13 for 50 ml

Goodnight mask more like goodnight sleep.

This product is perfect if your skin is feeling a little lack-lustre.

Applying this mask before bed was an interesting way to wind down and detox after a long day. This mask contained green tea extract as well as Provitamin B5. It had quite a creamy consistency and when applied gave my face a slight burning sensation which actually made me feel wide awake so perhaps this should be more of a morning mask instead?

When rinsing off the mask after approximately 15 minutes, a beautifully smooth stripped back layer of skin was revealed. I quickly applied a light-weight face cream and lightly massaged it into my face. I discovered that within seconds my face soaked up all the moisture, leaving my skin feeling as soft as ever.

Let’s just say this extremely rejuvenating face mask is the perfect way to press restart after a long and tiring day.

Day 6 – Trilogy Very Gentle Hydra-Mask

Trilogy Very Gentle Hydra Mask open lid with foliage in background.
For ultra-sensitive skin.

Type: Cream mask

Time left on: 15 mintues

RRP: $40 for 60 ml

This product is especially suited to sensitive skin types.

This creamy-based mask is formulated for super sensitive skin that is desperate for a hydration boost. This mask was composed of maqui berry and sweet almond for an all-natural face rejuvenation that smells like a dream.

The light creamy consistency makes you feel like you are applying moisturiser to your face but the trick is to spread out the mask evenly so that your skin absorbs every bit of moisture it can get.

When I washed the mask off after 15 minutes, my face felt super hydrated and cleansed. Perhaps because I myself do not have sensitive skin, I found that it didn’t soften my skin as noticeably as some of the other masks did. In saying that however, it definitely was intensively moisturising and left my face feeling extremely nourished for the rest of the day.

Day 7 – SPASCRIPTIONS Charcoal Hydrogel mask

SPASCRIPTIONS Hydrogel Charcoal Mask
Charcoal draws out impurities from the skin’s surface.

Type: Hydrogel Charcoal Sheet mask.

Time left on: 15 minutes

RRP: $18 for 3 hydrogel sheet masks.

This mask is great if your skin needs a good cleanse.

The hydrogel facemask had a jelly-like feel but in the form of a sheet mask. It was extremely slippery to apply and if I am being brutally honest, it did slip off my face one or two times.

When I finally managed to get it to sit right, I left it on for about 15 minutes and was quickly met with an odd tingling sensation on my face. Turns out it was the natural charcoal working to unclog the dirt and other toxins from my skin.

When I took the mask off a silky-smooth layer of skin was revealed underneath. After removing the mask, I applied a light layer of moisturiser to lock in the moisture for as long as possible.

Day 8 – Innisfree Special Care Foot Mask

Innisfree Foot Mask
The only foot therapy you will need this Summer.

Type: Foot sheet mask

Time left on: 20 minutes

RRP: $3.90 for one pair.

This product is the perfect remedy for dry, cracked feet.

Having never tried a foot mask before, I was excited to see how it worked. The Innisfree foot mask had two sock-like pouches that I slid my feet into for about 20 minutes. This mask was enriched in natural herbs such as green tea, peach tree and gingko leaf.

I sat at my desk completing some work and let the time pass. When I took my feet out of the slimy product filled pouches I rubbed the rest of the serum into my skin. Within minutes my feet were feeling as soft as ever before, both the skin on top of my feet and the bottom where the souls of my feet were.

As someone who gets cracked heels, this mask was a life-saver and made my heels feel soft for the rest of the evening. Some people even like to leave the mask on overnight for longer-lasting results.

Day 9 – Nair Clay And Seaweed Exfoliate and Smooth Leg Mask

Nair Clay Leg Mask
A mask, hair removal and exfoliate all in one.

Type: Clay mask

Time left on: 10 minutes

RRP: $15 for 227g

This product works best for dry skin.

This mask not only softens skin but acts as a hair removal cream as well. As I am Sri Lankan, my hair grows but very quickly. I am always looking for alternative to shaving so I couldn’t wait to try this product.

After applying a generous, even layer of the mask on both my legs, front and back, I waited for no longer than 10 minutes for it to work its magic. After a few minutes the mask did start to have a slight stinging sensation when applied.

Using a warm, damp towel, I wiped my legs clean of all the cream, and also my leg hair. I then hopped in the shower for a quick rinse. When I came out and dried my legs, my jaw actually dropped at how soft my legs were. I was so shocked that I ran around my house asking my family members to feel my legs and you will be pleased to know their response was all the same. “Wow Anisha, very smooth”.

My skin was smooth for the rest of the week; however, my leg hair did start to grow back after about 3 days. Considering I have to shave my legs almost every day, I see this product as an absolute essential to my beauty routine now.

Day 10 – Trilogy Hydrating Jelly Mask

Trilogy Hydrating Jelly Mask container held by hand.
Enjoy a jelly-texture face mask experience.

Type: Gel Mask

Time left on: 10 minutes

RRP: $35 for 60 ml

If you are in need of a hydration boost, this product is perfect for you.

This mask had a jelly consistency when applied which honestly felt pretty funny when applied on my face but hey I’ll try anything once.

It contains nutrient-rich ingredients such as manuka honey, rosehip oil and aloe vera and gives off an incredibly refreshing floral smell. Only a light layer is needed to get amazing results. After applying the mask, I waited until I could feel my face tightening underneath.

Washing off the mask, I patted my face dry with a towel and my face was left feeling extremely refreshed. My skin was extra soft and ridiculously hydrated, so there was absolutely no need for a moisturiser.

Overall, I would say trialling 10 different masks in 10 days was the best way to figure out what does and doesn’t work for my skin. Here are 5 things I learnt from this experience:

  1. Sheet masks are effortless and easy if you are too lazy or time-poor to go through the whole process of actually applying a mask.
  2. Detox masks are better off used in the morning so you can start your day off feeling rejuvenated and refreshed.
  3. Firstly foot masks exist, and secondly they actually work incredibly well to repair cracked, dry feet.
  4. Some masks are so moisturising you don’t even need to apply face cream afterwards.
  5. Invite your boyfriend next time you do a mask, because he may want to join too.
