Dogs – A Woman’s Best Friend

Whoever said that a dog is a man’s best friend was clearly a man; the unique bond women have with their dogs can be very special.

Dogs an be anything from a furry companion to a soul mate to something akin to a firstborn child. Women who feel a special connection to their puppies are liable to spoil them as if they were toddlers – special clothes, holidays and treats for good behaviour.

Dog ownership decreases cholesterol, blood pressure and stress, as well as increases physical fitness from walking their pooch and the need to care for them.

Emotionally, people with dogs are better adjusted; they cope better with grief and loss because they have a furry friend to turn to. Dogs make people feel safer in their homes, reduce their anxiety and increase their happiness through physical contact. In addition, dogs can lift your mood, eliminate loneliness and give you the feeling of consistency and routine in your life.

A beloved pet can literally be the reason you get up in the morning.

There’s a myriad of emotional, physical and social benefits of having a beloved dog as your best friend.

This special bond between woman and dog has been captured by Kerry from Akemi Photography in Melbourne.

She says the bond she has seen between dogs and their owners can be every bit as intense and significant as mothers and their children; “The relationship between a dog and his human is a precious thing and there’s no denying some people treat their dogs as their children.”
