A Trainer’s Go-To Fitness Essentials

Female wearing active wear and posing

As a HIIT instructor and founder of HIIT IT Fitness, I teach over 22 classes a week. Whether they are bootcamps in my local oval or sweaty sessions at F45, I spend a lot of time in my activewear and coming up with challenging and effective workouts for my clients and for myself.

As such, I am constantly on the hunt for and trailing fitness products that will get me pumped up, feeling confident and excited and make my life easier.

If you are a beginner at a gym or in your fitness journey it can be hard to sort through all the marketing and fitness jargon thrown your way. Knowing which supplements, you should or should not be taking and which equipment to invest in can be hard work.

Over the last few years, I’ve tried a lot of products, but I’ve narrowed down my favourites to bring you my top 3 go-to fitness essentials that I keep in my gym bag.

Naked Harvest Pre-Workout (RRP$49.99)

Naked Harvest Pre-Workout (RRP$49.99)

What Is It: Pre-workout powder minus the nasties

How It Helps: Gives you energy for your workout

If you are an avid gym goer, then you’ve probably come across the term ‘pre-workout’. It is a supplement; typically found in powdered form that you add to water and drink before a workout to give you a boost of energy.

Generally, these products are packed with caffeine and other artificial stimulants. Before I tried the Naked Harvest pre workout, I had only ever tried ones like this, which made my skin crawl and sent my heart racing.

So, I was beyond excited to try the Naked Harvest version when it came out last year.

The pre- workout blend by Naked Harvest Supplements offers what health conscious individuals, like me have been searching for; a 100% natural, female friendly pre-workout alternative; one that is free from artificial nasties, synthetic stimulants and refined sugars.

The blend itself includes beneficial ingredients such as Creatine, ALCAR, Green Tea Extract, Magnesium, Zinc, Vitamins (E, C, A, B1, B), Raspberry Ketones and more to enhance your performance and optimise your day. My favourite flavours are the Lime and the Tropical Iced Tea, as they are sweet and refreshing without being sickly, however they also offer Sweet Strawberry and Grape (this one tastes like Hubba Bubba) which are also delicious.

B_ND Resistance Bands (RRP $26-29)

B_ND Resistance Bands (RRP $26-29)

What Is It: Resistance bands

How They Help: Helps to activate and burn out your muscles by adding extra resistance

Resistance bands are a great way to take your bodyweight workout to the next level. They do exactly what they say in the name – they add resistance.

There a whole bunch of resistance bands on the market these days (it seems like every man, influencer and their dog are coming out with new ones) but the B_ND ones are my favourite.

Not only are they made from a thick material, so they don’t roll, snap or dig into your skin, but they are also affordable and sustainably made.

When I say they are affordable, they are certainly not the cheapest on the market, but given their ethical and sustainable production as well their incredibly high quality you get a lot of bang for your buck.

Good Quality Activewear

TALA
We love sustainable activewear

What Is It: Activewear that is sustainable and looks hot

How They Help: Feel confident in your body and protect the environment at the same time

As someone who spends almost every single day in activewear I have tried and accumulated a lot. When I look for and buy any new activewear it’s extremely important that the clothing is high quality (leggings must be squat proof), comfortable and fits well– I don’t want to spend half my class hiking my leggings back up my waist.

Some of my favourite brands are Gymshark, Lululemon and TALA. These brands are all moderately priced, whilst still high quality and fashionable.

Personally, I prefer simple and classic pieces (I think I have at least 5 black leggings) but all of these brands have exciting and colourful designs as well.
