5 healthy foods you probably over-eat

These days we’re all educated on what foods not to eat. But we can forget that healthy foods can have a negative effect if eaten too much.

If you’re struggling to lose weight consider your diet and ask yourself if you’re over eating on these 4 healthy foods.

Avocado

Full of good fats, vitamins, minerals and omega-6 these delicious green fruits are a favourite for healthy eaters. However because of these healthy fats, eating too much avocado can leave you a few kilos heavier.

One avocado provides 322 calories and almost 30 grams of dietary fat. It’s true that most of the fats found in avocados are good, unsaturated fat but too much fat leads to weight gain.

Nuts

Nuts can be a healthy and convenient snack to munch on between meals as long as they’re eaten in moderation. Nuts are a high source of omega-6 (the same good fats found in avocados) and also contain phytic acid that can reduce the body’s absorption of essential minerals.

Some nuts have a higher fat content than others although the recommended amount of nuts to eat at one time is a handful.

Fruit Juice

Many of us are aware of the high sugar content found in fruit juices but we’re still drinking them. However, not many of us realize that some fruit juices contain the same, or a higher number of sugar content and calories as soft drink.

Alternate between your fruit drinks and eating whole fruits to enjoy the natural fibre and nutrients whole fruit offers.

Cheese

Although not considered healthy by everyone, cheese is a good source of calcium, vitamins, minerals, protein and good fats – and is often over eaten.

Apart from the obvious of weight gain, the high sodium levels found in some cheeses is worrisome and can contribute to high blood pressure.
