Opinion: Girl’s don’t want (or need) a relationship anymore

Congrats ladies!

We’ve officially turned the corner and realised that more often than not, our own company is better than the company of a man.

The roles are changing. We are less obsessed with finding a relationship, getting married and having kids, and I for one, am very happy about it.

When a woman says she doesn’t want children or a husband, it’s no longer looked at as “unusual” or greeted with this gem; “You’ll change your mind one day”.

No. She probs won’t.

Fewer people in Australia are getting married and more are getting divorced. As of 2013 , 2 couples in every 1000 were divorced. That’s double the amount from 1970. A total of 47,638 couples in 2013 calling it quits.  And studies have shown that women are feeling some incredibly positive effects by flying solo.

A study released in the Journal of Women’s Health in 2017 which involved 80,000 women, showed overall, women became healthier when divorcing or separating from their husbands.

These divorced women also showed signs of improved health such as a decrease in BMI, waist size and diastolic blood pressure, along with better eating habits and greater physical activity.

A separate survey in 2014 showed that single Australian women are happier than single Australian men. Of the 3,500 recipients, it was recorded that 76 per cent of women were satisfied with singledom, as opposed to 67 per cent of men.

Women simply aren’t that bothered by the idea of relationships anymore. We aren’t looking for a boyfriend, or a wedding, and we are becoming less ashamed of admitting that we actually don’t want kids.

In the past, the main reasons women would marry was for stability, financial security and family. But, we can now have all those things without a husband. We can make our own money, we have a network of close friends, and women are choosing to have kids on their own or proudly proclaiming they don’t want any little humans to have to take care of.

And no, we don’t marry for love. You can love someone without a wedding. You didn’t say ‘I do’ and all of a sudden infinite love was guaranteed.

As someone in a relationship, I know the only reason I will even have a wedding is because the idea of a day being about me brings me pure joy. It’s why I love my birthday so much.

Love that spotlight not ashamed about it.

But I certainly don’t need a wedding to convince me that my partner loves me.

Relationships really aren’t needed anymore, and I for one, am thrilled with this development.

Want sex and not in a relationship? Well penises are basically on tap for those women who want some pleasure and have realised they’ve run out of batteries.

Just go on Tinder, find the profile of a cute guy with the bio “just looking for a bit of fun” and there’s your night sorted.

Women are unafraid of being by themselves, and in most cases, are just finding it far more convenient and conducive to a happy life.

  1. Most women nowadays are very busy sleeping around with different men all the time. So how in the world would they be able to commit to just only one man anyway?

  2. Well unfortunately with so many women that are gay and bi nowadays, which does make it very extremely difficult for many of us straight single guys trying to meet a good woman to have a very serious relationship with.

    1. Hi Mike It only takes one women to change the game. Online sites are still a great way to meet the right person. Yes many women do not want a relationship, but many women still do. Good Luck!
