A study of 330 women by Brigham University in the US has revealed that having a consistent sleeping and waking pattern can play a role in your level of body fat.

The study determined the best sleeping time to be between 6.5 and 8.5 hours a night, with sleeping patterns outside the recommended hours associated with higher body fat.
Bruce Bailey, who collected data on 330 college women for the study, says consistent sleeping patterns are vital.
When the patterns are changed, it changes physical activity patterns and can affect some of the hormones involved with metabolism, such as cortisol and contribute to excess body fat.

The study concluded that adhering to consistent sleeping patterns could prove to be an effective strategy in maintaining a healthy weight and lowering the risk of excess body fat.
