SEX TALK: The O-Shot – A Shot That Helps Women Orgasm?

So… you can get an injection that will help you orgasm during sex? Bondi Beauty gets the down low on the ‘O -Shot’

A ground-breaking sex treatment for women has emerged – the O -Shot – a treatment that claims to enable women to experience more frequent and more intense orgasms than ever before.

The treatment is said to be a holy grail for women who can’t orgasm during sex, don’t enjoy sex, or who experience pain or discomfort in the bedroom.

With studies showing that 37% of women can’t orgasm through penetrative sex, this procedure could be life changing for many.

So here it is, the O-Shot explained:

THE CLAIMED BENEFITS OF THE O-SHOT:

  • Less stimulation required for arousal and orgasm.
  • The production of more natural lubrication.
  • Decreased pain/discomfort during sex
  • Tightening of the vagina
  • Decreased incontinence

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE 0-SHOT PROCEDURE:

The O-Shot is what’s called a PRP treatment (PRP standing for platelet rich plasma). PRP is a naturally occurring substance in the blood that helps in the growth and development of new cells.

For PRP treatments, blood is taken from the body and spun to separate the platelet rich plasma from the red blood cells. This plasma is then injected back into the body, stimulating the effects of the procedure.

For an O-Shot blood is extracted from the vagina, spun to separate the PRP, then this is reinjected back into the clitoris and the ‘G-spot.’ The treatment takes no longer than an hour to complete.

While getting an injection down there sounds like it would be pretty painful, numbing creams and local anaesthetics are applied prior to treatment, making the procedure a (thankfully) painless one.

The injection of PRP is said to increase blood flow and nerve function in the vagina, meaning less stimulation is required to become aroused, produce natural lubrication and, ultimately, to orgasm.

However, the treatment is costly, with prices sitting around $1500 – $2000 per treatment.

The benefits of the treatment take around 3 weeks to kick in, with the full effects after around 3 months. You also can’t have sex for 3 days after the procedure.

The treatment’s effects will last between 1 and 3 years (this varies for each individual case). After this time a top-up injection is required.

DOES THE O-SHOT ACTUALLY WORK?

The most exciting thing about the O-Shot is that so many women are saying that the O-Shot has genuinely worked wonders for their sex lives.

This first hand account from Cosmopolitan claims that the O-Shot changed enabled her, after having never orgasmed before, to come only one minute into penetration:

“Having had a few months [after getting the treatment] to reflect, I’ve realised that not only has the O-Shot given my sex life a boost, I also just feel so much sexier.”     – Sophie Blackman, Cosmopolitan 2019.

This journo from Nylon had a similar experience, saying that the O-Shot is well worth the money, enabling her to experience the most intense and frequent orgasms of her life:

“The extra blood flow [stimulated by the 0-shot] made for an almost instantaneous explosion [during masturbation], which only makes my imagination soar as to what my sex life’s about to be like in the year to come while this treatment does its damn thing.
If you’re thinking about giving it a go, consider this: An O-shot is $2,500. But the ability to get off like never before? Priceless.”  – Rebecca Norris, Nylon 2018.

The O Shot is also said to be a miracle worker for women who usually experience pain or discomfort during sex.

DOES THE O-SHOT HAVE SIDE EFFECTS?

Because the treatment is non-surgical, the side effects of the treatment are minimal, and vary from woman to woman.

The immediate effects of the injection could include slight swelling and a ‘bruise’ like pain in the area for several days post-treatment.

Some women also experience constant arousal in the week following treatment (what could be described as a female ‘blue balls’ experience, as it is recommended to not engage in masturbation or intercourse for 3 days post-treatment).

Overall, it’s a pretty safe and easy procedure, and when you consider the potential benefits, a few days of slight discomfort doesn’t seem like a huge price to pay.
