The Positive Health Change I’m Making During Lockdown

With Australia’s lockdown comes a lot of extra time to think and revaluate your life and your goals.

At a time when health and wellbeing are paramount here’s what the Bondi Beauty team are doing to benefit their body and soul.

JOURNALING

Tara says: I’ve always been into journaling and have kept a diary ever since primary school. However, more recently I’ve decided to enhance my journaling skills as a means of self-development. Sjana Earp (@sjanaelise) is an amazing yogi and content creator and write now she is doing a ‘10 Day Online Retreat’.

One of the activities she offers is a new journaling prompt every day, which I’ve been trying to keep up with. The writing prompts include “what does chaos feel like inside me? How can I ease the chaos?” and “What brings me joy?” I’ve found these prompts, and just general journaling really helpful for manifesting positivity as well as honouring my worries and emotions.

GREEN SPACE

Anisha says: I’ve utilised my backyard way more than I did before lockdown began. Whether that be to exercise, or bask in the sun while I sit eating lunch and video-chatting with my friends.

I really hope that after all the mayhem of Covid-19, I still choose to spend some of my day outside as I do truly believe it is doing amazing things for both my physical and mental health.

GRATITUDE

Zoe says: I’ve been learning to slow down, take it easy and listen to my body.

For so long we’ve been used to the hustle and bustle of everyday life, never stopping to take in the world around us or consider how lucky we are. Recently I’ve been trying to be more mindful and appreciative of the place I’m at in life.

Especially hearing news of other countries lockdown conditions, such as in the Philippines where people can be shot for leaving their homes.

It’s a scary and trying time at the moment, but I’m using it as a chance to be more positive and appreciative of my own lucky circumstances, remembering that a lot of people have it worse than I do at the moment.

YOGA

Rebecca says: I have kickstarted my yoga routine back into action, after neglecting it for so long.

I am now connecting with online yoga classes from some of my favourite Sydney studios through Zoom, and doing a yoga class a day. It feels amazing and I am so happy to be getting back into a yoga routine. Namaste.

VEGAN WEEK

Renae says: I am planning a vegan week to challenge myself and see how it makes me and my body feel.

I have 12-year-old twins who are actually more excited about it than I am, as I am borderline obsessed with meat, chicken and fish so it will be a big change and a challenge to see how I go – let alone the kids.

Tara Mckenzie

Like many of Bondi Beauty's readers, Tara has two main passions; health and beauty. As a group fitness instructor you'll either find her dripping in sweat during a HIIT class or with a full face of bronze makeup. If you meet Tara in person be prepared to act excited as she tells you all about your star sign and why you should start carrying a rose quartz around in your purse.
