5 Great Things to do in Bondi in Winter

There’s a different kind of magic in Bondi in winter. Here are 5 things  we love:

The Bondi ice skating rink brings a whole new wave of energy to the beach.

Bondi Ice Rink
Only in Australia would you find an ice skating rink on the beach. The Bondi Ice Rink is, in fact, the only beachside ice rink in Australia so it’s definitely worth heading over to check out. Skate in the morning sunshine or underneath the stars at night, all against the backdrop of sand and surf.
The rink will be open between 10am and 9pm everyday from 20 June to 12 July. Tickets can be bought online here: www.bondiicerink.com
Art on the Streets
Bondi is full of talented artists and Arts on the Streets aims to showcase as many of them as possible. Local painters, photographers, and other artists will be setting up shop on Roscoe Street Mall Sunday 12 July. Head over to support local artists and experience the creative side of Bondi. There will also be opportunities for aspiring artists to leave their mark in chalk on Bondi’s streets as part of a ‘Chalk Up the Streets’ event.

Music on the Streets
On Sunday 26 July buskers and music-makers will be taking over Bondi town centre to entertain and raise money for charity. Go out for lunch and then take a stroll through what is sure to be a loud, fun, and dance-inducing experience.

Whale Watching
Winter means whale watching season. It’s the perfect time of year to spot a humpback whale as they migrate north to warmer climes. Their Northern migration path brings them closer to shore than later in the year so from now until mid-August is the best time to try and see them. Ben Buckler, in North Bondi, is one of the best on-shore locations to spot the whales. Or you can books yourself a spot on a whale watching tour and head out to sea to see the whales up close.

Coastal Walks
The coast from Bondi Beach to Bronte is beautiful. It’s also the perfect way to get outside and enjoy the coast without getting cold and wet. The walk begins at the north end of Bondi Beach and runs along the headlands and bays of Bondi, Tamarama, and Bronte Beaches. The walk takes about an hour and a half and is a great way to start a Sunday morning.
