How to get the most out of your morning coffee

For many of people, coffee is the first thing they think of each morning. It is a ritual, an experience and a for some, the only way they function in the mornings.

Everybody knows caffeine boosts energy levels, however research shows it can also benefit overall health and wellbeing in a number of different ways.

Harriet Walker is an accredited Practising Sports Dietitian who works with a number of leading athletes.

In an interview with Bondi Beauty she said, “we know that people who consume a moderate dose of coffee (3-4 cups a day) experience health benefits.”

According to Walker, this is particularly due to the high concentration of antioxidants in the coffee bean. In fact, coffee shows more antioxidant activity than green tea and cocoa, two antioxidant superstars.

Walker says that these antioxidants “have been associated with reduced risk of Type 2 Diabetes and Alzheimer’s Disease”.

Caffeine is also a great tool for increasing metabolism, allowing people to burn more energy throughout the day. “It basically makes the body burn a bit warmer and therefore allows the body to burn more energy per day and increase the fatty acid release so it can have a mild fat burning effect as well,” says Walker.

With this is mind it becomes a lot easier to justify that 4th cup of coffee for the day. But wait, there’s more.

Body Science has just released their new Clean Coffee TX100 product which takes the experience up a notch as it is packed with ingredients designed to enhance fat burning, boost your energy and mood. It is also designed to help combat cortisol spikes that come with an active lifestyle.

What makes this coffee different from a regular Flat White is the added ingredients. Aside from the base of Columbian Coffee it also includes MCT oil which is a class of saturated fat that is often used to boost mental clarity. When paired with caffeine, together they provide an extra mental boost – plus, they’ve been shown to increase metabolic rate and even promote fat loss.

Whilst the Clean Coffee is conveniently packaged in single use sachets, the same effect can be achieved by adding one’s own MCT or coconut oil to any coffee.

What’s more, caffeine is often associated with spikes in cortisol, making people feel anxious and jittery. Body Science have found a way to combat this with a special herb called Bluenesse.

Many people experience naturally high cortisol as part of living a high-performance lifestyle, but Bluenesse can help to combat the body’s physiological response to stresses. The result is a greater sense of calm, so you the drinker can handle whatever life throws at you.
