Coconut water. Why you should give it another go.

Here are five reasons to consider adding coconut water to your workout routine.

Coconut water could be for you.

1) It’s all natural.

Not a fan of artificial sports drinks, but water isn’t quite doing it for you? Coconut water is an all-natural alternative. Sometimes referred to as Mother Nature’s sports drink, coconut water is refreshingly hydrating, without any nasty artificial flavours and sweeteners.

2) It’s packed with electrolytes.
When you sweat, you lose a lot of electrolytes that are essential for your body to function, so it is important to replenish what you have lost. Coconut water is high in antioxidants, and rich in sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, manganese and phosphorus – all while being low in kilojoules. This makes the all-natural beverage a great post-workout alternative to plain water.
3) It’s versatile.
Add some coconut water to your post-workout smoothie or shake for a bit of extra flavour, or be adventurous and try an acai bowl. Coconut water manufacturer Coco Joy has opened a brand new retail store in Bondi Junction, selling delicious acai bowls, smoothies, shakes and many more made-to-order coconut based products. The ultimate post-workout pit stop.

4) Food allergy friendly.
Coconut water, as well as coconut milk, is free from gluten, soy, dairy and lactose – making it suitable for people who suffer from food allergies and intolerances.

5) Tastes naughty, but is guilt-free!
If you’re craving a deliciously sweet beverage but don’t want to undo all the hard work you just put in at the gym, coconut water is the perfect solution. With only about 4 grams of sugar, and less than 90 kilojoules per 100mL, you can get the fix you are looking for, minus the guilt.
