In small doses, red wine has many health benefits including anti-ageing.

Resveratrol is a natural compound in plants, red grape skin and even chocolate which has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Many medical experts believe this compound could help with insulin resistance, cancer, heart disease, inflammation, it can slow the ageing process and even help weight loss as outlined below.

Enhance Endurance: A Canadian study found that a supplement of red wine could improve performance in endurance training and cardiac function by up to 21%.

Help Fight Cancer: A French study claimed that resveratrol could slow down the rate of production of cancerous cells in the body.

Slow Down Depletion of Eyesight: In Missouri, researchers discovered resveratol was responsible for helping to maintain eye health keeping tabs on growth of blood vessels which may be damaging to the eyes.

Help Prevent Heart Disease: A study showed an improvement of 30 % in heart health from drinking a 1 ounce glass of wine a day.

Keep a Sharp Mind: In the UK research conducted saw an increase of blood flow to the brain and overall improved better mental function which could in turn stave off the effects of Alzheimer’s disease.

Aid Weight Loss: Resveratrol is known to work together with a hormone which fights insulin resistance and can speed up the metabolism for weight loss and weight maintenance.

Researchers from Manchester Metropolitan University have experimented recently to see what dosage of resveratrol  is necessary to improve health. They found a low dose of 10 micromolar’s of resveratrol  sufficient in improving cell function to promote healthy muscles, but micromolars of 40 or more actually had the opposite effect, damaging the cells.

Like everything, balance is key. Technically you can have your wine and drink it too. Enjoy the taste of wine and it’s benefits with quantity control. Too much of anything is not good for you and moderation is key.
