It Was World Pilates Day on Saturday 1st May 2021

Celebrate world pilates day this weekend

On Saturday 1st May 2021, many people around the world will celebrated World Pilates Day.

Every year, on the first Saturday of May, people from around the world come together to celebrate World Pilates Day. Founded by the Pilates Method Alliance, it is a way for people to celebrate such as exceptional exercise, designed to transform bodies and minds, and has been for many decades now.

Joseph Pilates, the founder of Pilates, once said ‘Pilates is the complete coordination of body, mind and spirit.’

And he wasn’t wrong in his statement, as his revolutionary exercises are seemingly endless. A balm and strengthener of the mind and body, Pilates allows students to play, explore, sweat and surrender.

What is World Pilates Day?

Pilates Day is an annual, international and community event celebrated on the first Saturday of May every year, with a mission to foster the publics appreciation and awareness of the Pilates Method through a network of varied, innovative fitness events, accessible and affordable to anyone, around the world.

It’s a way for Pilates beginners, and veteran practitioners to connect with like minded people, looking to better their way in life, through health wellness and fitness.

How you can celebrate World Pilates Day:

  1. Invite a friend to Pilates class so they can experience what Pilates bliss feels like. Work on the mat, Cadillac, reformer or Pilates Chair.
  2. Take part in a Pilates Day event and connect with like-minded people, meet new friends, and learn more about Pilates.
  3. If you have never tried Pilates yourself, now is the time to try it, with so many fabulous events happening across Sydney to celebrate (see below).
