Piloxing is a new form of hybrid exercise gaining popularity in the States and making its way to our shores.
It’s called Piloxing and combines the best of Pilates, boxing, and dance moves in a highly energetic interval workout.
Celebrities including Kelly Osbourne, Hilary Duff, Vanessa Hudgens, Kirsten Dunst, Ashley Tisdale and Alexis Bledel love the new style of workout.
The founder is Swedish dancer and celebrity trainer, Viveca Jensen, who wanted to create a workout for women, that is both powerful and sexy. It uses weighted boxing gloves and boxing movement to tone arms, whilst incorporating elements of Pilates which sculpt and develop flexibility.
Piloxing’s founder, Viveca Jenson, credits this new exercise regime with:
Piloxing classes are high-energy, and utilise dance and club music, combined with dance moves (hip-hop, salsa and ballet), pilates and boxing. A growing number of gyms around Sydney are starting to include or trialling piloxing classes on their timetables; however a number of videos posted online show Piloxing workouts you can do from home if you want to try it in private.
Piloxing is a workout specifically designed for women who want an exciting workout that burns calories, builds lean muscles and leaves them feeling empowered.
Piloxing classes are a continuous fusion of Pilates, dance and boxing moves that occur in three-minute rounds, alternating standing sculpting exercises from the likes of Pilates and ballet with powerful jabs/punches and intricate footwork. Piloxing Founder, Viveca Jenson, says it is designed to make women “sleek, sexy, and powerful”.
