During the recent Victoria’s Secret Show, we were reminded of just how amazing these girls bodies are. We check out Adriana Lima and ask how she looks so hot.

Who is she? Adriana Francesca Lima, born June 12 1981, is a Brazilian born model best known as a Victoria’s Secret Angel since 2000. In 2012, Lima wowed audiences as she strutted her fit body down the Victoria’s Secret annual runway, just under 8 weeks after giving birth to her second child.

How she gets runway ready: Lima revealed to the daily telegraph in 2011, In the 9 days leading up to the last Victoria’s Secret show, she followed a crazy diet consisting of no solid foods, only protein shakes, and drank approximately 7.5 litres (2 gallons) of water per day. Two days prior to the show she abstained from her large water intake and just drank a regular amount. Crazily, 12 hours prior to the show Lima abstained from all liquids in an attempt to dry her body out, making it tighter. Lima says in the last 12 hours she can lose up to “8 pounds” (that’s about 3.6 kilos).

Lima’s diet pre-runway diet received a huge amount of negative attention, prompting for her to say: “I know it’s very intense but … I just have an athlete’s mind and I appreciate doing this thing… It’s not that I do crazy diets throughout the year. I just do it for this particular thing. After this show, I become normal again.”

*** While Lima’s crazy pre-runway diet leaves her looking fabulous… For the general female population it is dangerous and can result in unsustainable weight loss. To look and feel your best following a balanced, healthy diet with regular exercise is the only way to go.

“I just have an athlete’s mind and I appreciate doing this thing.”

How she keeps fit: Lima says her favourite exercise is “boxing”It’s my favourite thing to do because it’s always exciting. It’s the best type of cardio you can do and build up muscles without being too big, just lean muscles,”  she was quoted as saying in a recent interview. She also likes to jump rope when she travels, or on her days off.

What are her top fitness tips? Investing in a skipping rope, it’s light and easy to cart around when you’re on the go. Lima attributes her post-baby bod to HIIT (that’s High Intensity Interval Training). She makes use of jumping rope during HIIT to improve her athletic capacity, shed fat faster and increase all over body toning.

What does she eat? Unlike most models who argue they eat cake and hamburgers ‘all the time’, Adriana says she enjoys all foods but follows a portion controlled diet that sees her eating lots of steamed dark greens and lean protein (chicken, fish, red meat). The 178cm model admits she “loves meat, chocolate, and cakes” – squidoo.com, but only allows herself a few bites of high calorie or high fat foods, to ensure her metabolism remains in top condition. Does she have any other hobbies/interests? Aside from being a total bombshell strutting her stuff for the likes of Victoria’s Secret and appearing in numerous campaigns internationally, Lima married Serbian Basketball player Marko Jaric on St. Valentine’s Day 2009. Together they have 2 daughters, Valentina (born in 2009) and Sienna (born in 2012).
