“I wore a Garmin tracker watch when doing triathlon, but hadn’t worn a tracker since then for about two years.

I had also refused an Apple watch as I have been working on spending less time on my devices, and was afraid a smart watch would encourage me to spend even more time in the digital world.

The first thing that hit me about the Fitbit versa was how fabulous it looks. I like the white band and it looks stylish.

The intrusion of text messages and phone calls is taking some getting used to, but I can turn that function off which is good.

It has also taken time to adjust to having to set the watch before my fitness session to either running or weights or treadmill or whatever I am doing. So I do like it, but it is taking me a while to get the hang of it.

Overall the best aspect of it the Fitbit versa is that it tracks my steps – I do far more steps each day than I ever imagined, which has been interesting to note.

I also like being able to see how far I am running on my morning and afternoon jogs. Having access to the weather is great, and I like having a clock on my wrist as I haven’t worn a watch for ages. Haven’t got into my heart rate but I know I should.

Recharging is fast, although I often forget, and it runs flat.”

Verdict: Great for someone who wants to work out how much incidental fitness they are actually doing, and a great starter smart watch.

Fitbit Inspire HR: $179.95

Maddison’s Level of Fitness: Super High

“As a fitness lover, I spent the early years of my life as a sprinter, moving on to representing the country in Oztag to now; where I spend as much time in the gym and outdoors exercising as I can.

In 2018 I purchased the Fitbit versa, and the device came with many features including, heart rate monitor, step monitor, weather updates, phone connectivity and the list goes on.

The new Fitbit Inspire HR is essentially the same concept of a fitness smartwatch as the previous versa. Although the Inspire HR is a lot smaller and a lot more practical for HIT workouts and running as it is lightweight and tracks everything the Versa does.

The slim and sophisticated exterior acts for a sharp everyday watch, not only appealing to the fitness public. Additionally, the watch provides many new features such as water resistance and the relax mode.”

Verdict: Perfect for on the go workouts acting as a lightweight tracker that is easy to operate.

Head to Fitbit for more information and to purchase the Fitbit Versa or Inspire HR.
