Australian actor Chris Hemsworth is known for his strict fitness regime which transformed his body to be superhero-ready for the leading role in Thor.

And now, Hemsworth, 35, and his wife Elsa Pataky, have launched their own app called Centr.

Designed for “those in the making… [who want to] develop a healthier body, stronger mind, and a happier life,” Hemsworth created Centr in collaboration with leading health and fitness experts who he has personally learnt from for years.

Taking to Instagram to announce the project, which he has been working on “for a number of years,” Hemsworth’s aim was to build “a program that takes the guesswork and excuses out of training, eating and living well.”

Centr incorporates three main areas that Hemsworth believes are central to health – movement, nutrition and mindfulness.

Hollywood trainers such as Gunnar Peterson (who helped transform Khloe Kardashian’s body) and Hemsworth’s own personal trainer Luke Zocchi produce daily workouts (coached or self-guided) that users can access in the app.

Other trainers are also on board, including former Biggest Loser Australia trainer Tiffany Hall, Navy SEAL and Special Forces trainer Joseph Sakoda and former professional boxer and trainer of Will Smith and Hugh Jackman, Michael Olajide Jr, among other professionals.

Expert trainers included on the app: Jorge “The Spaniard” Blanco, Luke Zocchi, Tiffiny Hall, Bobby Holland Hanton and Joseph Sakoda (L to R)

From HIIT, boxing, yoga and strength training, sessions last from 20 to 40 minutes and are tailored to different fitness levels and abilities.

Meal plans and healthy recipe collections from world class chefs and nutritionists are also heavily featured.

Users can access automated shopping lists, watch cooking demonstrations and choose foods that they love to eat to support a healthy lifestyle.

Hemsworth’s extensive training routine can often leave him run down and stressed, but he says in order to “not implode from anxiety, I’ve got to find that centre.”

Making up a section within the app described as “mindfulness to calm the chaos,” meditation guides, expert tips to boost motivation, sleep visualisations, and a community of 24/7 support are included to help create this holistic health lifestyle that Hemsworth swears by.

Launching globally on 11th February 2019, subscriptions are priced at $20 for one month, $47.99 for three months, and $119.99 for a year, however if users sign up before the app is launched, they become “founding members” and will receive 20 per cent off subscription costs.

Born in Melbourne, Australia, Chris Hemsworth first shot to fame locally with a role on  TV soap series Home and Away in 2004. He then took to Hollywood, and after a number of smaller acting jobs, he landed the starring role in Marvel’s superhero franchise Thor in 2011.

Having to transform his physique to become superhero-ready, Hemsworth’s gruelling training schedule saw him pack on almost 10 kilograms of lean muscle in a matter of months.

With the support of trainers, he used a combination of heavy weights, Muay Thai and boxing to mould his body, and he was eating high protein meals every three hours.

It’s fitting then, that the actor would create Centr with the aim of sharing the resources and information that helped define his body and lifestyle.

After living in Hollywood for a number of years, the actor relocated home to Australia and currently lives Byron Bay with his wife and three kids.

On the move, he says “Australia allow me to be away from a world where you can lose touch with reality sometimes… I can be with people and talk about things that have nothing to do with the film business.”

Hemsworth has since filmed eight Marvel films as Thor and is set to star in the next Avengers movie, as well as Men in Black: International in 2019.

If she’s not in the gym, you’ll usually find her online shopping, buying something she definitely does not need, or updating her Pinterest board with travel and adventure ideas for the future. Her other loves include dark chocolate, coffee and cats, all enjoyed while watching bad (or really good?) reality TV
