Biggest loser contestant Rachel Frederickson must feel like she can never make people happy. The 24 year old lost a dramatic 70kg during the US Biggest Loser Series.
At the conclusion of season 15 of America’s The Biggest Loser, 24 year old Rachel Frederickson stepped onto the stage to reveal her 70kg weight loss.
Frederickson’s final weigh-in showed the audience she had dropped from 117 kilograms to a mere 47 kilograms. The finale and final weigh in occurred one month after the contestants left the Biggest Loser Ranch, and caused controversial reactions from the audience and trainers. Jillian Michaels, Biggest Loser trainer, momentarily paused before applauding and mouthed the words “oh my god” to fellow trainer Bob Harper.

Rachel’s weight loss took 14 weeks in the Biggest Loser Ranch, where she left weighing a healthy 68 kilograms (the average Australian woman weighs 70kg). An additional 4 weeks at home prior to the finale allowed Frederickson to drop from 68 to 47 kilograms and scored her the title of America’s biggest loser and $250 000.
Rachel’s new weight of 47 kilograms places the 24 year old, who stands at 162 cm, at a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 18, which could deem the winner of the reality TV show underweight. Controversy has overshadowed Rachel’s win, as viewers were shocked at the loss of almost 60% of her body weight.
Scores of fans have taken to social media to slander Frederickson as “too thin” and a bad role model for young girls.
