Move over Turmeric Latte, the Rose Latte is taking over Bondi

Forget the Turmeric Latte, it’s all about the Rose Latte now, yes you read it right – Rose, as in the flower.

Remember the good old days when your hot beverages were limited to a coffee, hot chocolate or tea? Now it seems lattes come in every colour of the rainbow from yellow turmeric lattes, to green matcha lattes, purple lavender lattes and blue algae lattes and now the new kid on the block the rose latte.

This ‘pretty in pink’ latte can be found at Bondi’s own Gertrude and Alice bookshop and café. Gertrude and Alice are already renowned for their pots of chai, a little taste of India in every pot as you strain it into a delicate English tea cup.

Now along with their turmeric latte, the café has introduced the rose latte, made with 45 grams of their own brew of rose petals, pomegranate and beetroot juice served with your choice of milk. They recommended you try it with almond milk.

One of the great bonuses of this new creation is that it’s caffeine free.

Why should you try this latte?

Rose is used in natural medicine which helps with bloating, digestion and boosts your immune system, the addition of beetroot to this latte adds antioxidants which helps with energy output.

Grab a rose latte from Gertrude and Alice to detox and soothe your body in the fresh sea breeze of Bondi with a good book in hand.

Now for the taste test. The taste of this latte is reminiscent of the fruit notes of fresh summer berries and a hint of Turkish delight from the rose petals. The rich flavour of almond milk creates a great body to the drink and nicely complements the tanginess and sweetness of the pomegranate and earthy qualities of the beetroot.
