Who here has never tried and probably never will ever use, a makeup brush? Be honest.
If you raised your hand, you’re most likely not alone. You’d be surprised how many women still don’t apply their makeup using brushes. Not so long ago, I was in fact, one of those women myself. And, so was BB founder Renae.
Like most of you, we both preferred a hands-on approach to applying makeup, especially foundation, to our face.
Until we found out the dirty little secrets of how much bacteria we carry on our hands, how much of that bacteria ends up in our makeup and then is transferred to the skin when applying said makeup – EWE right?
Of course, this doesn’t mean makeup brushes are any cleaner than your hands, especially if you don’t regularly clean your brushes enough to keep them bacteria free. However, every industry expert, beauty therapist and makeup artist all agree on one thing. Makeup brushes are a safer bet for applying makeup to the skin than using your hands.
The reason, because the bacteria resides on our hands is transferred to the makeup; especially foundation before application. Where when using a makeup brush, the only contact is between the makeup and the brush and then the brush on the skin – essentially you are bypassing your hands altogether.
Note: If you do have breakouts, you must always wash the brush before your next use, or any bacteria from the face will reside on the brush and be re-transferred to the face when using to reapply any makeup.
