My Lazy Girl Beauty Guide for Christmas Day

Don’t stress about your beauty routine Christmas Day, I’ve got you covered with my lazy girl beauty guide.

Whether you are spending a lazy morning (or day) in bed before catching up with friends and family, or you’re up before the sun to start your visitation rounds, it’s important not to neglect your beauty routine on Christmas Day. Especially as most years, Christmas Day is dry and hot.

Most of the time my Christmas morning consists of a quick coffee in the morning, a play with the cat, followed by a quick round of Christmas cheer of hugs and kisses with the family, before taking off to my sister-in-law’s house for ham and cheese croissants and more coffee (or champagne).

So, I don’t get too much time on the day to focus on my beauty routine, and I find my skin really feels it by the time lunchtime comes around.

Over the years, I’ve created an easy skincare routine which generally starts Christmas Eve, to help me deal with Christmas morning, keeping my skincare routine easy and my makeup simple and all enough to last throughout the day.

Starting on Christmas Eve, I focus on giving my skin a deep cleanse and exfoliation, and then follow with a rich hydrating eye and an overnight face mask, so my skin feels soft and is glowing in the morning.

Right now, I am using the Garnier Hydra Bomb Eye Tissue Mask RRP $3.99 , the Paula’s Choice Super Hydrate Overnight Mask RRP $42 and the LUSH Mint Julips Lip Scrub RRP $11.95

Paula’s Choice Super Hydrate Overnight Mask is perfect for summer when the weather is hot and dry.

The eye mask by Garnier is super drippy, so do be careful when applying as the serum will drip everywhere. I normally apply and then wrap a towel around my neck and lay down for fifteen minutes or until I feel like my skin has absorbed as much of the serum as possible.

The overnight mask by Paula’s Choice is incredibly moisturising and has bee a great replacement to be normal night cream on days when my skin is super dry. And as for the lip scrub by LUSH. Well if you love Christmas and Candy Canes, you’ll love this scrub. It is scented with pure peppermint oil, making it very festive.

If you have any blemishes you need dealt with the night before, so they are easier to deal with in the morning for Christmas Day, I have been using the LUSH Grease Lightening Spot Treatment RRP $14.95 which is made with Witch Hazel and Tea Tree and works wonders on drying out the blemish and healing it fast.

For Christmas morning, I keep it simple with products that work to keep skin well hydrated in the day and help me maintain a natural no makeup makeup look.

As far as I’m concerned, you can never have enough serums, especially win Christmas Day. I have been using the Edible Beauty Glowing Skin Smoothie RRP $54 and the Innisfree Green Holidays Green Tea Seed Serum RRP $54 both of which are loaded with rich antioxidants to protect the skin from the harsh environment and free-radicals and keeps skin clear, smooth and protected against any pollution.

To moisturise, I have been using the Innisfree Jeju Cherry Blossom Cream RRP $29 which not only smells like a tree in full bloom of blossoms, it keeps skin looking dewy under makeup, a winner in my books.

Don’t forget the eyes, I’ve been using the new LUSH Enchanted Eye Cream RRP $31.95 which is made from Lavender Honey, Almond Oil, and Jojoba Oil, leaving the eyes feeling super soft and light after use. It’s non greasy and foundation can easily be applied over the top.

For my foundation, you can’t go past Peter Thomas Roth’s Skin to Die For RRP $59 which is a CC Creme foundation and loaded with vitamin C for extra protection against the environment. The texture of this foundation is light and has a nice fluffy feel to it when applied to the skin. Which is great for a natural, non-heavy makeup look on Christmas Day.

To lock thing in, I have been using the new ICONIC London Prep – Set – Glow Spray RRP $50 which can be used both under foundation and onto of to set foundation. Either way, this fabulous spray will keep skin looking very dewy. Don’t leave home without it though, this spray is great for using throughout the day to maintain your makeup and keep skin hydrated.

I do prefer to keep it neutral for Christmas Day, especially if you’re hanging out by the pool chowing down on prawns and sipping Prosecco.

I’ve recently been using the Doll 10 Face and Eye Palette RRP $39 which is an all in one kit for your eyes and cheeks. It includes blush, eyeshadows and a highlighted, all in a beautiful range of natural colours which compliment any skin tone.

Ditch the lipstick on Christmas Day and go for something more natural. You’ll thank me later when you have been eating and drinking all day. Take your favourite lip balm with you and re-apply after eating and drinking throughout the day to keep lips nice and soft.

Made from only the best organic products, this Cheeky Lips tinted balm can also be used to highlight cheeks for a soft natural glow.

If you do want some colour on your lips, use a tinted balm. I’ve been using The Organic Skin Co Cheeky Lips Balm RRP $40 tinted in Desert Storm, which is a soft terracotta like colour and perfect for achieving the no makeup makeup look, especially for Christmas Day.

My Favourite Product of the Week:

Ocean Australia Face Sunscreen RRP $18.99

Ocean Australian Face Sunscreen
Ocean Australian Face Sunscreen

I love me a good face sunscreen, and gone are the days where sunscreen left oily residues on the skin, which often resulted in a greasy look and most likely also clogged the pores and created breakouts. All at a time of the year, when you want your skin to look as natural and as clear as possible, when swimming at the beach.

This sunscreen is mineral-based and full of natural ingredients to help protect against harmful UV-rays and is safe for children to use also.

I love the feel of this sunscreen, as the texture is light and non-greasy and easy to apply. You can easily wear foundation of the top if you need to, but do choose a very light foundation. Mostly so your skin doesn’t feel too heavy from all the product you are wearing on the face.

Oh and this sunscreen doesn’t smell like normal sunscreen either, probably as it’s mostly made from natural and healthy ingredients.
