Fake a Summer Glow with These Fab Bronzers

The best bronzers to help you glow in winter

The best face bronzers to help you glow through winter.

When the winter chill sets in, instead of reaching for soft pink cheeky blushes, I opt for rose gold and sun kissed copper toned bronzers instead.

If you’re wondering what the difference between a bronzer and a highlighter is, although they can be similarly used to create a glowing goddess makeup look, they are applied to different areas of the face.

A bronzer is brushed onto the perimeter of the face such as the cheeks, jawline, and along the edges of the forehead and nose. Where highlighter can be applied to darker areas of the face, such as under the eyes to waken and brighten skin.

Here is an easy to follow diagram of how to apply bronzer matched to your face type. The brown shaded areas show you where bronzer should go. The blue lines are the limits. (image c/ My Women Stuff).

Did you know, you can also use bronzer to hide a double chin?

If you have a dark complexion, go for gold-toned bronzer. If you have a fair complexion opt for a rose-gold toned bronzer. Simply brush bronzer across the jaw line to hide the double chin. When you highlight your jaw line, it takes away the attention from your double chin.

Bronzer is my BFF in makeup, as it makes me look like I just got back from a summer vacay. But most of all, my love of bronzers stems from how versatile they are. They can be used as a highlighter, for eyeshadow, and if the tone is right it can even replace your humble lipstick.

It’s my go-to product when I’m creating a natural no makeup makeup look in the day, and can easily be glammed up by night. But most of all, on the days when I look a little washed out from feeling unwell or from having a late night, bronzers warm up my skin in seconds, waking up the skin.

If the idea of using a bronzer slightly scares you, you’re not alone, and I have certainly been there. Worried at the prospect you’ll apply too much and either turn out a little to bronzed, or glittering like a disco ball is enough too make anyone shove the bronzer to the back of the cupboard.

But once you get over the hurdle of fears associated with it, it will become your makeup BFF and a lifesaver at times, when skin seems dull and lifeless. I do recommend you start with natural looking bronzers though, ones which blend well and only add a very slight glow and build up from there, once you gain a little more confidence and experience.

The best bronzer to replace your highlighter:

Models Own Sculpt & Glow Shimmer Bronzing Powder RRP $10

My favourite shade for this bronzer is Light Golden Brown, which has a metallic glow, and is great for using as a bronzing highlighter on and just above the cheekbones. Blend towards the outer edges of your face and towards your temple area to enhance the glow.

The best bronzer for a sun kissed look:

In Australia we are lucky to experience more sunny days than not in the Winter months, that doesn’t mean you don’t experience a little seasonal depression with Summer being so far away.

Exploring new ways of enhancing a soft or edgy summer glow on the face, using next level bronzers provides me with an almost euphoric feeling momentarily in the colder months, as a I dream of late night summer cocktails on the beach

My Favourite Beauty Product of the Week:

PeppyCo Cleansing Egg RRP $119

PeppyCo Cleansing Egg

This is a unique new exfoliating and cleansing product from Australian beauty brand PeppyCo the cleansing egg. It’s easy to hold in your hand and vibrant gentle to help cleanse away makeup, dirt and grime from your skin through gentle exfoliation.

To properly test out the functionality and results of this cleansing egg, I skipped exfoliating for a week. Why? Because I wanted to see how deeply cleansing this egg worked to clear out dirt and grime from my large pores.

I started with a basic cleanse to wash off the first layer of makeup and grime, before moving on to using the PeppyCo Cleansing Egg, which can be used either once or twice a day.

Keeping my skin damp, I applied more cleanser on the skin and then switched on the egg and began using circular motions over my whole face to deeply cleanse the skin. The ultra-soft anti-bacterial bristles of the egg makes the whole cleansing experience feel super luxurious.

After about a minute of cleansing with the egg all over my face, I then switched it off and washed my face off with warm water. WOW! My skin looked so vibrant and super fresh.

There was a significant reduction in blackheads on my nose too, which was an amazing sight to see, as only the toughest of clay masks and micro treatments normally remove them.

Matched with the PeppyCo Gentle Cleanser RRP $35 the cleansing egg will become one of your favourite new skincare toys. I know it’s mine.
