Protect your hair from the summer heat, with these hydrating hair care products for damaged summer hair

Swimming, sun-baking and walks in the sun, ahh the perks of summer once winter is over.

And where you may remember to wear sunscreen to protect your skin and drink lots of water to stay hydrated in summer, we often neglect our hair.

To help protect your hair from the heat and prevent any heat or UV damage from the air and sun, we’ve tracked down four products which promise to keep hair hydrated, protect from colour fade and keep hair well-nourished all through summer.

Davines Oi Absolute Beautifying Potion Oil 50ml RRP $37.95

Davines have a well-respected reputation for creating the perfect products for curly and frizzy hair, though don’t be disheartened if that’s not your hair type, as they have also created a stellar product line for straight, wavy, bobs, dry and oily. There’s no limit to their creations, as they continue to develop outstanding quality products to help us all have better hair days every day and not just reserved for a few.

It has been made with Bixa Orellana Seed Oil derived from the Achiote plant which is native to South America and Mexico. So, no animals were harmed in the making, developing or testing of this product either. Ancient civilisations were using this oil centuries ago for the body, the face and the hair, and was mixed with varying ceremonial skin paints which helped keep the paint on the skin without cracking and drying out. Almost like the world-first oil-based paint for the body.

Kristin Ess Leave-in Conditioner RRP $19

This spectacular haircare range has arrived into Australia, straight from California in the US. And like us, Californians know and understand our hair concerns when it comes to protecting locks from the summer heat. This leave-in spray will de-tangle, soften, strengthen, moisturise and make hair shiny.

Use this fabulous spray right after washing your hair for a nourishing shine and texture to your hair. Oh, and it smells amazing too. Best used on wet hair, you can use it on dry hair also, however, I do recommend you damped hair even a little in order for the ingredients of this leave in to activate better against damp hair. Try using a spray bottle filled with plain water to dampen hair before using.

Unwined Rose Wine Inspired Colour Protection Leave-in-Spray RRP $13.59

Protect your hair colour against the harsh environment with this sparkling rose wine inspired leave-in-spray. Which yep, you guessed it, actually does smell like a delicious summery rose. This treatment will preserve colour, provide a UV barrier for hair in the sun and will strengthen and mend split ends.

If you love the smell of sweet smelling summer rose and wines, you’ll love this spray, as this is exactly what it smells like. And the product isn’t all talk either. The fabulous texture of this spray is perfect on dry hair, after a long day to re-texturise your hair. I love using this spray on my hair, when I don’t have to style. It;s perfect for adding a beach wave to dry hair overdue for a good clean.

Tigi Bed Head After Party Smoothing Cream RRP $13.99

This is a soothing cream for stressed out, dry hair looking to be spoilt with a vitamin rich protein. Used on either dry or wet hair, this cream will reboost hydration from root to tip, leaving hair smooth and shiny. Which is perfect after spending the day at the beach

We recommend using this product on wet hair if your hair is straight and on dry hair if your hair is curly. When wet, this product will help to keep it frizz-free and smooth as the hair dries. And for dry curly hair, the product works to remove any flyaways, by soothing the frizz and defining the curl. A great option for anyone who stayed out late partying, or too busy to wash and style their hair.
