DIY Organic Hair Masks for Dry, Frizzy or Damaged Hair

These cheap and easy DIY masks are 100% organic and will calm dry, frizzy or damaged hair.

Sometimes hair needs a little extra love to restore its health, as using heat styling tools, harsh products or changes in weather can damage the hair.

These three hair masks combine the best natural ingredients for restoring hair to its healthiest, shiniest state.

HERO INGREDIENTS:

Egg:

Egg yolks are packed with nutrients including biotin, folate, iron, Vitamin A and Vitamin D, which can help prevent hair breakage and promote hair growth when applied to the scalp. Egg whites contain essential proteins and amino acids, which strengthen the hair and strips the hair of excess oils.

Avocado:

The nutrients in avocado – vitamins A, B6, D and E make it an intensely nourishing ingredient to use in any hair mask, making the hair shinier and more moisturised.

Honey:

The antibacterial and antioxidant properties in honey helps strengthen the hair follicle and reduce hair breakage.

Banana:

Bananas are rich in potassium, magnesium and natural oils, making it a natural hair conditioner and perfect ingredient for repairing damaged and brittle hair.

Lemon:

Lemon can be a good fix for those who struggle with oily hair as its acidity strips the excess oils and product build up.

Oils:

Oils are a sure-fire way to restore shine and moisture to the hair. Castor oil is fantastic for making hair stronger and smoother, coconut oil repairs damaged hair and prevents breakage, and olive oil increases strength and shine. These oils can be used as single-ingredient masks by applying to the hair, leaving overnight and washing out with shampoo and conditioner.

THE PROBLEM: DAMAGED OR BRITTLE HAIR

Banana Egg and Honey Mask

  • 1 ripe banana – peeled and frozen
  • 1 tbsp organic honey
  • One raw egg

Thaw the frozen banana, then put in a blender or food processor. Blitz until smooth.

Add the tablespoon of honey and blend.

Add the egg and blend.

Apply mask from the roots to the tips of the hair (dry or damp), put on a shower mask.

Leave for 20 minutes – do not allow the mask to dry completely as this will make it difficult to rinse out.
