What We Really Think of The NEW Models Own Makeup Line

We road test the NEW Models Own makeup line Aquaproof, and the result is nothing but love.

You may or may not have heard about this British owned and made makeup line called Models Own.

Late last year, this exciting new (and affordable) makeup line was made available in all Priceline stores across Australia, and the BB team got really excited. Not only are the prices so reasonable; where any financial budget will accommodate a weekend splurge on these products, but both the quality and the performance are outstanding. Their liquid matte lipsticks are as good as any high end range, and their eye shadows are perfectly pigmented, so even the smallest swipe across your lids goes a very long way.

We really dig everything Models Own has to offer, from their colour range to their performance. So you can imagine we got REALLY excited when Models Own announced they have now released their new line of waterproof makeup called Aquaproof.

If you live in any coastal town or city in Australia, then you’ll know summer is all about swimming; whether that be swimming at the beach, or in yours; or someone else’s swimming pool. An Aussie summer really is all about cooling off with a swim.

And of course looking your best is always a difficult challenge during this period. Not only is it so hot your face feels like it’s melting, you spend so much time in the water, it’s difficult to keep your makeup lasting all day long.

And, let’s face it, we all want to look good whilst sipping ice cold frappes by the pool, or splurging on extra mint dark chocolate gelato at the beach

Many makeup brands promise to deliver the best in waterproof makeup, and some of them really do deliver. Especially when it comes to mascara and lipstick. In-fact, they often deliver so well, it’s difficult to remove the makeup even after swimming.

Well, Models Own have raised the bar when it comes to waterproof makeup. They have created waterproof eye shadows and UV protected nail polish. And, yes, you heard that right. Waterproof eye shadow.

So, BB writer Rebecca put the products to the test to see how waterproof they really are. Here’s what she tested:

  1. Aquaproof Eyeshadow Palette $29.95
  2. Waterproof Mascara in Black $14.95
  3. Felt Tip Eyeliner in Black $12.95
  4. Lip Gloss $11.95
  5. Nail Polish $8.95

I am lucky enough to have a swimming pool at my place, so testing out the new range was super fun. And, as much as I love makeup (okay I am obsessed with it – what female isn’t?), I don’t really wear any makeup when I am swimming; whether at home or at the beach. Mostly due to me feeling like it’s waste of product, as it’s just going to come off in the water anyways.

To test the new range, I started with the Models Own Aquaproof Eyeshadow, which had me super excited. I blended the perfect summer goddess tones of Brighton, Clifton and Peak from the palette; which are shades of magenta and rich browns. The eye shadows are cream based, so they blended well together. I then followed with the Models Own Felt Tip Eyeliner in Black and the Waterproof Mascara in Black. To match the magenta tones used from the eye shadow palette on my eyes and finished off with an application of the Models Own Lip Gloss in shade Pink Sugar.

I let the makeup set for at least 30 minutes, before diving into the pool. I also kept a mirror handy with me, so I could check myself after swimming a few laps in the pool. The pool is part chlorine and part salt water, so perfect for testing out the new range.

After swimming a few laps, I checked myself in the mirror. The lip gloss was partially faded, but you could still see a small hint of colour, which was fine. And as for the eye shadow – AMAZING! It was all still there, none of it had budged. The eyeliner was maybe a shade lighter, but it was still going strong, and the mascara had not changed at all. There was no fading in colour, no smudging and most of all, no running of any of the products at all.

After a few more hours of lounging by the pool, and swimming some more I found the lip gloss has pretty much dissapeared; which is fine, as I had been eating and drinking, along with sun baking and swimming. But the rest of the makeup stayed strong. And, at the end of the day, the best part about this makeup line, it actually comes of easily with makeup wipes. Unlike some other brands which are often difficult to remove.

I definitely rate these new Aquaproof products as being highly successful and would recommend them. They are easy to use, perform well like the rest of the makeup line by Models Own, and even if you aren’t planning a day in the water, the range is so summer hot, you will want to add them to your collection anyways.

Just don’t wipe down your face with the towel if you do swim, pat dry instead. Even the best waterproof makeup will swipe off under pressure.
