Want Glowing Summer Skin? Here’s How

The best breathable cleansers, serums, oils and mists for glowing summer skin.

No matter your skin type, glowing summer skin is certainly achievable using the right combination of products to help skin look refreshed, clear, smooth and glowing.

Cleanse:

Start your morning and end your evenings with a good cleanse. Cleansing is the most important step of any daily skincare routine. It helps to clear the pores, remove any impurities and prepare the skin for all those lovely face serums and oils you’re about to use.

Try Biore’s new Baking Soda Cleansing Micellar Water ($4.99) for combination skin. It’s cheap, oil-free and works to remove any dead skin cells; which is important to keep skin clear and allow new skin cells to grow.

Serums:

Always apply face serums right after cleansing and before using any face oils or moisturisers. Serums are rich in antioxidants which soak deep into the cells of the skin to help fight free-radicals, sun and wind damage and also keep skin well hydrated in the day.

Sukin have just released their Pureless Ageless Intensive Firming Serum ($24.99) for all skin types, which helps keep skin well hydrated and combat the signs the ageing.

Mavala Switzerland have launched their new botanical skincare range in Australia and we are loving their Anti-Age Pro Serum ($56.95); which has been formulated with rare botanical ingredients to help keep skin smooth, soft and hydrated.

Face Oils:

Face oils in summer. Yes. People underestimate how advantageous it is to use a quality face oil on their skin; even if your skin is oily.

If you cleanse and exfoliate your skin properly and then apply serum to soak into the pores to treat any skin concerns, applying a face oil after a serum provides an outer layer of hydration to the skin, promoting a natural balance of sebum in the skin.

Stay away from face cheap oils however, as these can leave your face feeling greasy. Try the new Essano Superfoods Kale Nourishing Face Oil ($50); which not only promotes healthy sebum in the cells, it provides lightweight hydration to the skin all day, without any left-over greasy residue.

Another good quality face oil, is the Vitamin C + Camellia Oil by Natural Instinct ($19.99). Vitamin C not only boosts hydration in the skin, it also keeps cells clear, as it works to east through dead skin cells and dirt on the face. Similar to that of a fruit enzyme. Vitamin C has many healing quality too and is great for soothing skin irritations like nasty hormonal blemishes.

Face Mists:

Keeping skin well hydrated in the summer months can be hard, especially if you spend a lot of time outdoors for work (or leisure). And maintaining a good skincare routine, with the right products ensure your skin can stay well hydrated throughout the day.

But when that Aussie summer kicks in, sometimes even the best performing skincare products can struggle against the harsh Australian climate.

This is where Face Mists come in. Keep one in your bag so you can spritz a boost of much needed minerals and vitamins to the skin to help keep skin moist and well hydrated. This come in handy when you’re at the beach and makes a great replace for moisturiser after swimming.

Our favourite face mists right now are:

  • Essano Superfoods Kale Balancing Mist Toner ($12.99)
  • Swisse Rosewater Balancing Mist Toner ($12.99)
  • Mavala Skin Vitality Alpine Micro-Mist ($29.95)

Don’t Forget to Moisturise:

After using cleansers, serums and oils, you should always use a good day (and night if you choose) moisturiser which lock in moisture for extra protection against the environment. Try the Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream Hydrating Moisturiser (RRP $75) which is designed to lock in moisture for up to 72-hours.
